Morning all - have recently purchased this girth for my horse believing it to be better for the horse but have been told it is less safe than a standard girth (if one saddle strap were to break then you’d gain a couple of inches on length of girth and as it only has one point of pressure this could also increase likelihood of it breaking) - this makes sense to me but wonder what the chances are of this? Anyone got any thoughts on them or used them for any length of time? I have also read they can lead to over girthing… which obviously I am mindful of when using. Straps on my saddle are supple but well-used. Thanks for any advice on this girth or suggestions on best girths (considering trying to find an old fashioned cotton string girth)

This is another view of the girth along with description: The Dee system allows the weight to be distributed evenly making it a very comfortable girth. Easy to fasten and helps eliminate over tightening. Super strong yet soft material, textured to allow airflow. Moves comfortably without chafing or rubbing. Stainless Steel roller buckles. Easy to wipe clean.IMG_8123.jpeg

I don't recommend them, not only do they have this risk (and it's more than a couple of inches when you've got it tightened, more like 6-8") but there's usually a pressure point behind that big d ring.

My two go tos, fairly inexpensive, are Dabbs waffle girth with elastic and the Stubben cord girth, both likely online rather than your local tack shop.
