Hydro Gel

At a recent breeding seminar a vet did a talk who said to throw away all antiseptic creams etc and just use saline and some kind of hydro gel to treat wounds. Does anyone know the name of a hydro gel and how easy are they to buy?

Intrasite? There are a few out there now, things like Robinsons Vetalintex and I think Equine America Derma Gel is a hydrogel. In recent years the benefits of moist wound healing over dry have been recognised, and I have certainly put my wound powder to the bottom of my veterinary trunk. I've never heard about getting rid of all creams etc too but certainly powders and things like purple spray, which dries everything out (although it's useful for seedy toe and thrush as they NEED drying out!)

You used to be able to buy intrasite gel from a pharmacy - I used to get it from Superdrug.
