Hydrotherapy rehab Livery

Hello,

I am in the process of looking into sending my horse who is recovering from an injury to his sesamoidian ligament for some hyrdrotherapy, a combination of swimming, spa and equine treadmill. I have some money through my insurance that will fund this and wondered if anyone had an suggestions within 2 hour drive of bedfordshire.

I have contacted Moulton and they have quoted me £350 for 7 days of full livery and a treatment everyday.

Thank you in advance for any suggesstions. :)
 
My mare went to one down at Moreton in Essex, I know the people who own it and they are lovely.

I can recommend the care my mare got.

My horse is currently at Bennett Equine in Burton on Trent - I'm rubbish at geography so not sure if it's close enough but I've been over to see him and he seems happy and seen him in action on the water treadmill, the website is http://www.bennettequine.com/

Mine will be there for a month which is costing £1,120. Insurance is paying for all of the hydrotherapy and 50% of the livery so it will only cost me £140 for the 4 weeks he is there.
 
Thank you for the suggestions, does anyone have any experience of Arden in Warwickshire? They have a 140 ft swimming pool, the purpose will ovbiosuly be for rehab for the ligament but also to help him shed some of the weight he has out on being out of work. Any experiences with them would be greatly appreciated.

*waves* My horse went to Arden. He severed his Achilles back in December, after 6 weeks box rest the vet recommended swimming to help the healing, the closest place at the time was Arden. Steven at Arden was fantastic, as he swims horses day in day out. My horse is quite quirky so I was a little worried about sending him away!
At Arden it is a swimming lane, my horse was swum as soon as we got there to make sure he went in (which he did, Steven has a knack to it!) then we left him there for 6 weeks, he swum every day, building up to 16 lengths. We visited him once, he didn't give 2 hoots we were there! They do not have a spa or a treadmill, I don't think. He does have a horse walker and solarium, and they are really nice internal stables.

eta: would definitely recommend and would have no hesitation sending a horse there again, wish it were closer so I could take him for a swim as part of his fitness work.

Arden only have a swimming pool, so if your objective is just to get weight off the boy then that will do the job. If on the other hand you are looking primarily to rehab a ligament then IMO you would be better off at Moulton where they have not only the pool but also the spa and the water treadmill, with the additional benefits that those bits of kit bring. Also, the therapy at Moulton is overseen by the resident vets.
 
Moulton are great! I did some work experience there a few years ago and they really do look after the horses well and know what they're doing. The facilities are great too.

Another place I've heard of (though I have no experience of it myself), is Priory Farm Spa which I think is in Bucks so might be a suitable location for you too? I have no idea what facilities they have though.

equine aqua training. think she is £350 a week, had amazing results from a show cob that has a big stomach to tighten up, another that tore its suspensory ligament, and another that torn its deep digital flexor tendon in his foot he is back novice eventing which is hardly heard of with his injury and sure its down to water treadmill twice a week

I can second Bennett Equine. Friend of mine sent her mare to them with sacro problems and said it was the best money she'd ever spent, especially for the water treadmill work. The mare was very happy there and fabulously well looked after. Best of luck :)
