Hyonate injections

Anyone has these?
Experiences please and how much roughly do your vets charge per injection.
My horse had her first injection last week and has her second tomorrow

When discussing these with my vet he told me it doesn't work on all horses and if it does work it is not a miracle drug.

On my horse we both class it as a miracle drug!

I give it every six months to my 22 yr old IDxTB who is still being shown and hacked out.

After the second injection my horse can have flexation tests on both back legs and pass - will also be overtracking

Tip: Get it on prescription NOT from your vet - considerably cheaper

Why would you not get it from the vet? It's an injection into the joint and if the injection site isn't shaved and sterilised you are running the risk of joint infection?

My mare had a couple of hyonate injections some years ago when my vet thought she had lameness in the fetlock, though in fact it was navicular. Hence I can't say if it was any good as medicating the fetlock was pointless!

My mare had a course of this following surgery to remove a bone chip in her fetlock. Vet gave injections into her neck and not into her joints, she was definitely springier afterwards.

As I said because its cheaper which makes a big difference if you are using this drug regularly - your vet gives you the prescription - you buy it from a pharmacy - vet comes out and injects it. Not sure why you are commenting about joint infection if its not shaved and sterilised - at no point did I suggest injecting it yourself!

hyonate can be injected into a joint (so its specific to that joint only) or into a vein in the neck which covers all joints
