Last night Ronnie was far, far more energetic/active than usual. Not a major problem at all, but we're used to him having his evening meal and settling down when we get home in the evenings after work and doing the horses.
At first we thought he must be more energetic because there was a distinct drop in the temperature last night and thought perhaps he was just feeling fresh. However it then occurred to us that on Tuesday we'd changed his kibble to Skinners Field and Trial (maintenance).
He's always been on working dog kibble (although he doesn't work, but is very fit and gets plenty of off-lead exercise at the farm where we keep horses.) He's a Beddy/Whippet lurcher - and is usually quite a typical lurcher in that he'll do crazy zoomies and then settle down and sleep for hours.
He's previously been on James Wellbeloved when we first got him, then Autarky ever since, except for recently when we bought him Wagg (yes, I know it's far from great - but it was on offer at the time and the Autarky was out of stock).
Having heard numerous recommendations for Skinners Field and Trial from lurcher owners, I thought that this time we'd give it a try.
Is it possible that, having had the first of the Skinners on Wednesday morning, it could "energise" him by Thursday evening? Is there something in Skinners that isn't in the other brands named above that could have affected Ronnie? Or could it just be co-incidence or the change to cooler weather last night as we first suspected.
PS: No other changes - poos, pees etc. - everything fine.
