Archie is not and it is my intention will not ever be for sale but I am very curious about how much he/his type is worth.
He is a 16.3hh, ID x Cob, piebald.
He is 8 yrs old (DOB 01/04/2002).
He has not got a nasty bone in his body.
He has never bitten or kicked.
He is the most loving horse and loves people. People love Archie. Other horses love Archie. Archie loves other horses.
He has low mileage. I have used him as my happy hack. He is ridden 98% of the time on his own, 1% accompanied by a bike and 1% in company.
He can go first or last.
He has never, ever tried to bomb off or bolt.
Ridden bitless (Dr Cooks) for over 3 years but my preference was to ride bitted so ridden in a Happy Mouth Full Cheek Straight Bar snaffle. Ridden a great deal of the time on the buckle.
He is used to plodding along taking in the scenery though I am sure if we could both be bothered he could be quite speedy.
He can be ridden in an open field, forestry, country lanes and is non spooky (I jump more than he does when a pheasant flies out from under his belly).
He is used to country lane traffic, mountain bikers, tractors, trailers, arctics but I do face him towards larger vehicles if a large long vehicle is coming from behind.
He lives out 24/7/365.
He is a blank canvas. He is a quick learner and I am sure would excel at Le Trec or a small ODE but this is not my thing, however, when popping a log in the forest, very occassionally, he has been willing and able.
He is a weight carrier!
He is a competent novice's ride. By that I mean he is a steady eddy but in the event he met, for example, a piglet that was squealing and saying hello (like he did yesterday out on our hack) he got worried (I think he thought it was upset cos it was making a hell of a racket - lonely I think) and I needed to push him on and instil confidence that all was ok. BTW, this is very unusual but then we don't enounter pigs very often!
You can pop children on him, complete novices (obviously supervised and on a lead rein).
He is shod fronts only, barefoot on the back.
Touch wood, never been lame, ill or sorry.
Tiny, tiny sarcoid on sheath that has not changed/grown given cause for concern, ever.
Anyone who remembers, I fell off Archie and broke my collar bone. Totally my fault, not his. Jumped on bareback (like I had 1000 times before) he was all excited (signs were there, I just ignored them) and he squealed with delight and bucked and off I came.
Oh, not sure what else to put ... to me he is pretty much perfect.
