"Hypothetical" situation, how much would you pay? (long)

Ok so two people person "A" and Person "B" and a horse "C"
Person A owns horse C but due to many reasons pregnancy, lots of loaners falling off, she has lost her confidence and hasn't ridden C in over a year.
Person B has been taking care of C for the past two months, feeding, mucking out, exercising etc but not contributed financially. During these two months person A has not come down to the yard at all, has not asked about horse C at all.
The horses are due a dentist visit and person A say that they cant afford the money to pay for the dentist person B offers to pay, and person a accepts. However person A is currently paying for lessons at a local riding school to get her confidence back and is also subtly asking if anyone has a horse for loan, and there is no way person A can afford two horses.
So horse C could be going up for sale at some point in the future. She is a 15.2 late teens mare possibly early twenties, not the best conformation in the world. Quite a heavy build, not well schooled and not the easiest to school, has a pop on her but again not her forte. She is a good hack, can be spooky and nap if going out alone (spins and refuses to go forward) but will go with a firm rider. Not the best to catch either. Lovely nature and a really safe horse in the school and hacking in company. What would you pay for horse C. Long winded but i think all the information needs to be there.

id offer her £300 a work with that.

That's what person B was thinking but she thought that it might be cheeky, but if others say around the 300- 800 mark then she was about right. Thanks.

I'd be around the 700 mark given the explanation of the horse you have given, but bring in the topic of dentist fee to maybe reduce price.

Plan was to start off low then build up to a maximum of £800 if the owner was awkward.

If she was well schooled, good ride etc id stil be paying max 800 in this crap market

as shes unschooled, owner cant afford it etc - 300!

TBH I think she'd be lucky to find a buyer in this climate. Maybe she is expecting you to 'take over'. I'd offer a token sum - £300 sounds about right. If I were the owner I'd consider myself very lucky to have a good home waiting.

to clarify, about £500 of my max £800 would be to reflect the tack and rugs if they're good quality. Sadly a decent leather saddle and some good condition rugs are worth more than the horse in all liklihood. With no tack/rugs or ones that need replacing I'd be offering well under £500, probably more like £300

Just to put it from a different angle, if she's 15.2, good natured & completely safe in company & the school, then I'm sure that most riding schools would value her at higher than meat value. I'd ring a few local ones & try & get a rough idea what they'd pay for her. You don't want the owner refusing your offer because the place she rides at will give her more, likewise you don't want to bid too high.
