I definitely had my heart strings tugged by one this morning. I have never seen a dog so grateful and relieved to be held. Poor little lurcher was trotting along the road as i was driving to work. He was so so sooo cold, so skinny and just cuddled up into the arms of the other lady who stopped. I wrapped him up in some spare clothes from my car and a third lovely lady who lived nearby set up a dog crate in her home for him so they could get him safe and warm away from the road. I left him with these two lovely people to take to the vets to scan for a chip and get a health check. I keep thinking about him, and all the other strays out there in the cold.

I just love lurchers. Sadly so do less desirable elements of our population. I am sure that on a whole they are the most abused breed in general, often found straying, emaciated, injured, dumped or murdered. I would be surprised if there is a chip and I hope he ends up in a lovely home.

Thats how Mrs Lurcher came to join our family .We found her cold and hungry with a dislocated hip in a ditch at the side of the road .
She was very frightened and not at all keen on MrGS but as I coaxed her there was a moment when a flick of something went through her eyes it was hope just a flicker I managed to get her into the car ( I was on crutches ) and got her to the vet .
She went to my Mum and Dad and is now with us .
BTW she’s good with cats .
And puppies thankfully .
