I’m so worried

After a bit of an improvement with Robin he seems to be going downhill again. He had a good day wed and Thursday and much more normal. Friday he wasn’t right. Saturday not too bad and we even had a little lunge, which I mean as he was on end of lunge line and we walked round the arena and did a couple of big circles for 10mins. Not so good yesterday and today. He seems to be head shy and back to being reactive. I feel I am tip toeing round him to try and stop him getting upset. Vet phoned and was concerned as by now the peptizole should have done it’s job. He is a little better but it dosnt seem to be sustained.

He got a random fright yesterday, threw his head up and whacked his head on the top of door. It clearly hurt a lot poor boy. That can’t have helped but I have had a really good look and poke and he is ok.

He is getting about six times the amount of feed as this time last year. He is not anywhere near skinny but harder to maintain and has dropped a little. He is eating 13 or 14kg of hay overnight but is not eating while I’m in stable with him. He is gleaming tho.

He just seems grumpy. He got a fright tonight and dashed to door and when I tried to stop him running out he panicked and flew backwards. I could see heart pounding in his chest. I have never raised a hand to him but if I move too quick he panics.

I am concerned with the lockdown about getting to vet for treatment scope but vet said travelling him to hospital for medical treatment will always be allowed. For now we will carry on with the peptizole and give it the 28 days but he is concerned yet more is going on.

I am wondering if there is a link between days out with a neck cover and not. If it is wet he has a 100grm combo on and if dry a 200grm no neck. If I put a 200grm combo on he sweats. I am wondering if he is better with the neck on. I will experiment with that for a few days. But I am back to wondering about his neck bothering him.

I am so worried we are just getting one problem dealt with to show the next and there will be no happy outcome for him.

Not that I know of but I had wondered that. Today’s fright was a clang from the tractor going in to the cows. Something that happens every day without issue. Yesterday I had just put his headcollor on but no idea what caused the actual melt down. He lies down every night. I can bring him in and he will eat hay while I poo pick then when I go in he stops eating. Pretty sure it’s because he is worrying about me touching/grooming him. He will then eat his tea and sets about his hay once that’s finished but he prefers to eat the loose hay on the ground first so I have been putting extra on the ground. He then gets a few carrots on the ground as I leave which he likes.
