At least you used it! ? When I get new things they usually have to sit for a while before I am "allowed" to use them. The exception is if I need to use it straight away and then I just feel really uncomfortable and precious about taking care of whatever it is for ages!
This is classic I am exactly the same!! Equine OCD??

I bought myself a new wheelbarrow today as old faithful finally went to the big muck heap in the sky.

New one was baptised this afternoon. And then......was washed out after use. What is happening to me?
It’ll be like getting a new car.

For the first few weeks, you don’t leave any rubbish in it, don’t eat in it so you don’t get crumbs down the seats, maybe even hoover it once a week.

Before you know it, normal service has been resumed, it’s full of old shopping bags/dead biros/empty drinks cans/crumbs/dog towels/tack and looks like a mobile skip.

Nah, I don’t buy that theory

My old Mondeo kept going for years. You could barely see the upholstery by the end. I’m pretty sure that crumbs, dog hair and long lost Sherbet Lemons were the only things holding it together.

I got it valeted before I sold it. When the chaps had finished they told me not to come back. Ever.

Happy new barrow!
I am relieved to hear there are others who buy new stuff and then don't wear it straight away as it's too good ?. I got a pair of very expensive boots for my 60th and they are still sitting in their box as they are too good to wear anywhere near a horse!

I needed a new winter jacket and happened across a beautiful Ariat one in the sale. When I got it home I thought "This is far too good for the yard. I'll wear it to work for a while, and when it's got a bit tatty I'll swap it to a yard jacket. " 3 years later it still hadn't been to the yard and I'm still wearing the old winter jacket.......

What sort of special occasion requires pristine oven gloves?
If the Queen is visiting?

When I was a teenager my great aunt bought my mum some leather riding boots for Christmas . We only had rubber ones up to that point. It was about 15 years before she wore the damn things!

I still tip my barrow against the wall after use to avoid water collecting in the pan and causing it to rust even though I haven’t had a barrow with a metal pan for 40 Years.

I always do this but didn't know it was about metal wheelbarrows and rust! Thought it was to keep horses safe from wheelbarrow handles. I have learned a new thing.
