Big horses that don't want to pick up their feet or co-operate when you have the foot up are a pain! We had the same problem when we had to tub the big girls foot when she had an abcess, no fun at all.

he does this for a past time when i pick his front feet out on a normal day !! you can see the cheeck in his eyes im sure hes laughing at me !!! so because the vet wouldnt leg go he didnt like it,he soon gave up and just stood there !! no its not fun as he weighs 670 and little me didnt have any fight left especially after 2 nite shifts and not alot of sleep !!!!!

Ours was almost phobic about picking her feet up, she still has to have sedaline for trimming! She is ok now for picking out but she gets so stressed if it's for anything more serious. I think she would need anasthetic for shoeing

i dont know why he does it,hes 21 !! and been a working horse all his life so is use to grooms endless shows etc so feet picking is second nature for him if you get my drift !!! hes just a little monkey and must enjoy it now and again !!!!!

I think they know that it winds you up and like to have fun every now and then, the old Appy would do things for devilment, the amount of wormer I wore with her was amazing, and yet I gave her bute in hot chocolate by syringe for three years and ususaly got it all in her.

lol bless her,its funny isnt it they just know that its not a nice taste, but hot choc is yum she must have loved it,my boy is fine with everything else just his feet !!! his fleece rug was covered in straw this am so when i finished sweeping my patch of the yard i brushed the rug off,he was still wearing it lol just stood there looking at me thinking mother you are a plum !!!

The big mare is find with anything between feet and mouth, just those two areas are untouchable (well were, I can do her feet now) I now pick her feet up with the farrier there and she seems to understand that this is what is wanted. She isn't the brightest horse I've ever met.
