Today was one of those days that didn't seem to be going so well, so went up to the stables to calm down!!!
Frankie (my lovely 28yr old boy) is very bolshy in the stable, and whilst mucking out he kept walking into the wheelbarrow and pushing past it trying to get out.

Anyway i was so annoyed at him that i batted him on his leg with the shavings fork and he jumped a mile and didn't go back to the wheel barrow but started to eat his hay like a good boy.

Whilst grooming him, i noticed a load of blood on his front leg, and where i batted him with the shavings fork, i drew blood...que lots of crying from me

and feeling just dreadful..i didn't mean to hurt him and now i feel truly horrendous, i think all is forgiven from his point of view as soon as i fed him.
If you got this far, thanks for reading i just needed to vent.
You have no idea how mean i feel, i've never done this before but feel like i really failed him today!!
I think my other horse new not to mess with me though as she stood and ate her hay peacefully whilst i mucked out round her...!!

Don't be too hard on yourself - I'm sure you won't do that again!
Give him a bit of extra attention and look after his leg, I'm sure it will heal in no time.
Then vow to leave a bad day behind you when you go to the horse!

Don't beat yourself up too much as we all do things that we regret and know not to try that one again

... and to be honest I am sure in your mind you knew that at 28 he should know better
