After spending almost 3 years persevering with an unpredictable mare, whom on a good day could go out and conquest dressage/showing classes to bad days where she would spook/bolt/rear, with no physical reason as always having checks done, after another bad rear up and over at the weekend and fractured ribs, I have now decided enoughs enough.
However, its the thought of having to start looking for a new mount all over again, I have given up faith, am I asking too much to expect too look for a horse that is capable of going to shows, not overreacting at loud speakers, busy warm ups, being boxed up in showing classes without an explosion and just get on with the job... do these horses exisit???
help.

Sure they do, you can't tar every horse with the same brush, some are idiots all the time, some are good all the time, others are like yours, when there good there brilliant, when there bad...there very bad.

You find something, perhaps debate the age and breed a bit more so your looking at horses with a more predictable temperament, as well as the price etc :)

Yes they do. I was in a similiar position so bought what seemed a rock steady boy. he certainly has his moments but is very predictable and therefore I feel very comfortable and safe with him. Too much grub/not enough work we have a spooky nappy pony. Balance it properly and he is fine. Goes to parties and makes the biggest fuss and threatens to blow up and does nothing at all! totally predictable!

So, look at what you want, and make the safeness a priority. I had had a fantastic mare before the last one, but last one put me off for life!

Of course they exist! you will probably end up trying out lots of horses before you find the right one, because its very hard to write it down in words how easy some horses are. Narrow the horses down to fit your bill e.g height age sex etc, then go and look at them all! Obviously if it says in the advery not novice ride as can be a handful etc, then dont call up, but id just say go and see as many as you can. That way you can compare them all, and you will then know for yourself from how it behaved how it would react in that environment..
