OK so ned is away for intensive physio, ultrasound treatment and building up his exercise (horsewalker) at the physio's yard to fix a ligament strain.

I rang the vet to discuss what to do when he comes back in a few weeks. I had thought rescan to assess his progress, then consider stepping up his programme. She said we may have to start his fitness plan again when he comes home (i.e. in hand walking, lunging, obstacle work etc etc (although he is getting built up to (i think about 2 hours of exercise per day).

Although the physio has said once he gets back it will be lunging / long reining with saddle, then all being well starting ridden work. I dont want to rush his recovery, and i am not bothered about riding him, but what is the point of going away to get treated??

Ive got to ring the vet closer to the time obviously, but i am in bits thinking he was on his way to recovery.

tbh I can't see why your vet wants to start it all again when he comes home. I agree with weezy - I would go with physio and get vet to liaise, then they can argue it out between them and hopefully you'll get the result you're after.

Hi by the way

phone the yard where he is at for physio and exercise and arrange to go every day to see his progress.. and arrange to have a few 1 to 1 lessons with him so you can continue on same thread when he comes home! 2 hours of exercise per day is a large amount of work? on walker? lunging? (with/without side reins) ridden? i personnally would like to see and witness on a regular basis what i am paying for and the improvement?
