Ok, so up nice and early to get ready for Merlins first Elem. at Forest of dean.

Finished the yard at about 9 and got a phone call from my flat mate, who said our Carbon Monoxide alarm was going off!!

She said she would deal with it, although I am still very worried as I am on my own tonight!

I get on the quad to hay the horses in the field, and one of our brood mares wont stand on her near hind, grrr! she had to come in and have it washed off, and found a tiny stone lodged in her frog. so that was sorted.

Then go to hay the foals, and one of them wont get up to have its food. Try for about 20 mins to get him up, and then ring the vet who comes over to have a look and suspects he has got septosemia (wrong spelling probably) from us worming him, and the owner fibbing about him being wormed before, the vet reckons he had such a heavy worm burden that his gut lining has been damaged etc.. so hes had injecions, and syringes and is wrapped up in a blanket. We had to take his blood samples to the lab ourselves as the vet ad some more emergencies to see to.

so i rang the competition and cancelled. Now I am knackered and covered in mud and have decided that horses are a nightmare! .... just another manic monday....

Healing vibes for Ned the foal, he has a 50 50 chance

Poor foalie- positive vibes winging their way to him.

Hope your carbon monoxide thing was ok-either way check it out and be careful!

Bad luck with the test, fingers crossed for next time x

Lots of good vibes being sent to the little foalie... how awful for you to have all that to contend with this morning.

I have to say, all the problems foalies can have are just making me more and more nervous

Update on Ned:

He seems to have perked up a bit but is still too weak to get up. He had a low temp. so we have rugged him up to the eyeballs.

He has had about 3 litres of liquids pumped through him, and has had another injection.

Vet says his blood tests revealed he has got septosemia (wrong spelling again i know) and his opinion is that if he goes downhill overnight then it is the end for him

Thanks for all the healing vibes! Ned and his owner appreciate them!

Ah right... poor thing!

I'm sending all the good vibes I can to him tonight. I hate hearing something so young being so poorly, it breaks my heart!
