After starting Tarquin's belated training it is becoming clear that he does have a flair for Dressage

, to the point where I think that he is more talented than Murphy. (sorry Murph

) The only problem being that he is incredibly sensitive, which I hope is a sign of his huge potential

. So with great intrepidation I have decided that I would give him a go at his first dressage competition. It is a small affair but Tarquin's first time out in that sort of environment ridden. Its on August 4th so I've got until then to get him a little less sensitive to new situations ridden and get him used to not wearing a standing martingale all the time

! All of which he is capable of as he incredibly quick at learning anything new

Afterwhich I suppose I'd better register him with BD and renew my membership

. We plan to compete and train all winter now we have transport. Tarquin is 6 now and I have procrastinated over him for long enough.
So I am now very nervous, silly I know. Think it'll be me needing the human ACP not him!

I've just been over to BD and renewed my membership so there is no going back will hold of doing Tarquin's until he's done that competition just to see if it worth going the whole hog with affiliation so soon.

Thanks _SN_ Hmm am trying to get some video of the T Bag, as even I have no idea what he looks like, just know that he gives me that same feeling as a warmblood and moves better behind than Murph and is a lot more uphill, hence the predisposition to standing on his hindlegs! Did a big post in this section last week about Murphy, he is sound now and turned out with Tarquin. They get on really well, Murphy is like a friendly uncle teaching Tarquin all sorts of survival skills, like eating trees and how to eat a thistle without getting prickled (that is a funny one to watch). I'll give him the winter off and start riding him next year. No more competing for him tho, sadly.

LMAO!! I like the sound of Tarquin! Am I right in thinking that he is a Welsh Cob x TB? I'm so glad that you will be able to ride Murphy again hun! Sad that you won't get to compete him again, but at least he'll be able to enjoy life still!

LOL, yes Tarquin is the Welsh Cob (stroppy) x TB (I'm having a mental breakdown). Gorgeous vet from Rossdales pointed out to me, quite rightly so, that as I had one talented horse to ride then there should be no rush to get back on Murph. Needless to say he prefers Murph to Tarquin from a veterinary doing stuff to him POV! Murphy is going to be my spare ride for anyone that wants to ride out with me and Tarquin next year and I think he'll manage that ok, even if he is a bit lively.

LMAO!! See pic in my avatar - that's a partbred welsh cob, though he is 24 and the pic is a still from a video taken in May/June this year.

Which vet?
