Thank you, it's only loose when they are in the garden but the more worrying thing is the field it ran into (neighbours) have an elderly old dog who it could have got to if it wanted to! Luckily it didn't see her or od knows what could have happened

You need to report this, Poor dog. Its no good waiting for something else to happen. It will be too late then. If the dog has no shelter than the rspcamust act. I know it might be worrying that there may be comebacks but for the poor dogs sake report it.

Staffie rescue excellent idea. Be careful with RSPCA, I made a report once, did so anonmously & put a code into my phone (can't remember number but someone on here will know) that hides your number. Despite them pressing really hard to get my details, I refused, said I'd been walking past the place & seen a very poor horse (at our yard, old, abandoned for days on end, no running water, no rugs, owner used to steal food from us, skin & bone, YO would not take action). Good job I did as they put the callers details on the forms, YO pestered RSPCA officer as to who made the call, & officer showed him the form. If I hadn't put code in my phone he'd have seen my phone number! Do not trust them when they say they will maintain confidentiality. Is there a path the dog can be seen from? Say you walk down it several times & dog always chained outside etc. DO NOT give your details, say you are a neighbour etc. HIDE your phone number! Just be a concerned member of the public.

I know the rspca are not great but for this poor dogs sake do something! I know I could not rest unless I had done something if it were me. Try the dog warden or something if you dont want to use rspca. Poor dog! Dont wait for it to escape again and cause mayhem and be put down or it.

No which is why i am not willing to put my horses at risk ! The dog isn't kept in a great way but i am not risking having either of my two injured... we have to live by these scumbags until the landlord kicks them out :( Sorry to hear what happened with you , very scary

I can rest, knowing my horses are safe, i will not and see above pooster pip6- i will not let my horses be injured which these thugs will. The dog isn't kept in a great place no, but if i was report it my horses could end up seriously injured. It cannot escape as fence has been repaired and patched up at OUR expense today. Dog can only been seen from our paddock and neighbours paddock she isn't willing to ring either as they are horrible people.

I know you're worried for the safety of your horses if you make the call, but that poor dog doesn't deserve another day like that. Phone the Staffie rescue or RSPCA, but phone the non-emergency police as well to tell them that you're reporting them and worried something might happen because of it as they've threatened it before...

but PLEASE - don't wait a month!!! Completely unfair for the pooch!

The code you're on about is 141 :) put 141 then your mobile number and it blocks it :)

...until the next person kicks the boards out again? Don't take this the wrong way, but it's almost irresponsible of you if you DON'T do anything for the sake of that dog. I know he's not yours, but whether he can escape or not, he's tied up in a garden with no shelter - probably not being fed properly etc. Completely unfair and undeserved.

Thought this would happen... I'm made to look like the bad guy ! I have said i will report it again i shall wait a month or so until its settled and make out i was someone delivering stuff door to door and spotted dog.

Not making you out to be the bad guy! Why wait a month to do that? Do it today, it's a good enough "excuse" that they won't think it's you - door to door delivering etc. It's a good one, so now go do it! Could have done it by now! Be the samaritan for that poor dog!

as much as other posters will be mad at me for saying this, tessybear, the welfare of this dog is not your responsibility. If you are able to avoid problems with these people then call, but if not, don't put yourself or your horses at risk.

To those getting so incensed, why not pm tessybear and ask for the address, then you can call in.

Because it wont take a genius to work it out the day after, Im sorry but their garden back onto our house im going to wait my horses are my priority. I may even wait a week and then ring up claiming to be handing leaflets out and spotted the dog.

I know, and if you read my posts, I have said this! I know the dog isn't hers, and not her responsibility, but could you live with knowing that a dog is being ill-treated, starved, beaten, or worse - killed - knowing you could have done something to help? 100% I could not. Even if I was in danger myself, or my animals, I'd FIND a way of getting a better life for that animal, THEN I could rest.

Thank you so much for understanding, we HAVE to live near these people, we HAVE to turn our horses out and they WILL hurt them, without a thought. I also wouldnt put it past them to do damage to property etc they are real nasty pieces of work.

Thank you again for understanding starting to feel like i was having the finger pointed at me

its not starved condition was bordering over weight. Well i would class that decision as stupid why put 2 animals life in danger to have the RSCPA take this dog and have it pts so thats 3 animals at risk. And the damage to proerty would occur, if horses were alive after they have finished be terrified to turn them out ? in your own home.... no thanks

If they're the chavtastic family as you say, they won't have a brain cell between them to work it out. Good lord you infuriate me. I'm going to have to leave this post, and just hope that dog survives.

A family friend called in about a neglected dog years ago, he'd already had words with the owner who then guessed that he'd been the one to report it. He had fireworks thrown in through his window.

You always come across as such a lovely person and I wouldn't want to hear about something similar happening to you or the horses! x

Oh dear .... wellthat' nice to know ;) I am not willing to put my family, horses, land, house, vehicles, neighburs at risk. !!! If you want to ill give you the postcocde you xan pop over be the 'good samartin' and get a load of abuse and have your animals injured. I thik it is probably best if you leave

Dont think you are being made out to be the bad guy, but a true animal lover could not leave a dog in that state. I know you might be worried about your horses but you could do as suggested and ring the police and explain your worries. If you wait a month anything could happen in that time. that includes the dog getting in with your horses again and doing more damage. How would you feel then?

oh sod off! If you were in this position and genuinely concerned for yours/your animals safety, you would be having exactly the same dilemma!!

Oh god bless him :( Terrible isn't it ?

I dont want to be portrayed as the bad guy letting this dog die ... which i dont think it will there is a level of compassion from the children towards it. However i really believe they would injure both horses in revenge :( x

You're not the bad guy in any way, shape or form. You have to look out for yourself in this situation, especially as they already know your feelings on the matter x

Thank you, im sticking to my guns asnd what i believe will be the safest option of letting it die down for a week or two and then ring as a door to door sale person :)

Sorry, I'm another one who would put my animals and my home first. I'm guessing the dog has been there for some time? If it's not verging on death then as harsh as it sounds it'll last a bit longer.

Say you report it now, the dog will be seized, if it looks 'type' it'll be destroyed, even if it doesn't it the odds are against it being a staff, and then they might know its you and hurt the horses or do god knows what to your house. So then you could end up with the dog dead anyway, injured horses and a vandalised house.

Give it a couple of weeks and then report it.

Voice of reason and sense , thank you so much everything you have said makes sense :)

If it does you can sit on your high horse, like i said if you wish to endanger yourself i will give you the postcode of the house ?

Fine PM me details I will report it no problem, Also there is no need to be rude. No one has been nasty to you, just feel sorry for the dog. Im happy to report it for you.

And what will you say as either way it will come back to us ! My parentsd baring in mind im 17 ! have told me not to as it will come back on us. I feel like im being backed into a corner and having the accusing finger pointed at me , i wouldn say i am being rude and apologise if thats how it comes across

I understand that you would be worried about reporting them, but if the conditions that the dog are being kept in are as bad as you say they are, with no shelter etc you and more importantly your parents should do something about it.
Its my last word on it as I cant go round in circles with this.
