Well new to me anyhow! I have decided to work on a little low level dressage with Star as she is working so nicely now. Any dressage peeps tell me the ropes?

What is the lowest, easiest starting point for us? I have no confidence when it comes to competing so want to start as low as possible.

Also how do I convert my mainly jumping tack to be suitable for dressage? I have a short girth so that is ok. Can I use a flash noseband? I have an Elevator with the flash noseband so hope that will be ok. What reins do I need? At the moment I have continental ones. Is that allowed?

Also is my Neue Schule Tranz lozenge hanging snaffle dressage legal?

Can I wear my skull cap with a velvet cover?

Am I allowed to use a prolite pad under my saddle on top of a cloth? Can anbybody recommend a nice saddlecloth?

I am a total dressage virgin as you can tell!

yes a flash is fine. not sure what an elavatorbridle is so cant comment. continental reins are fine. the snaffle bit is dressage legal. & ur best bet would be a white saddle cloth, (although at low level unaff any colour will do). Your best bet would be unnaf prelim somewhere local to you. Prelim is the lowest level, there are loads of different tests to ride. Find out what tests your local venues have on, go on BD website & buy the relevent test( or borrow one from a freind) ...Practice & most importantly have fun!! ... oh & dont forget to breath when you go down the centre line!

Check if any of your local RCs do 'Have a go' or starters Prelim classes. Judges are usually very encouraging in their comments

A white saddlecloth if you have one and all your gear, inc bit will be fine.

Good luck, enjoy and don't forget to breath

Some venues also do "walk and trot" tests which are a great way to start if you are not used to having to canter in small circles! Practice on your horse, but also in your head at other times (falling asleep, shopping etc) and picture yourself riding the test like you are watching a video. It's a very good way of remembering the test.

Yeah all your tack etc is fine. If you want a nice saddle cloth have a look at Inch's. Whereabouts are you, I may be able to help you with venues etc
