Some of you may recall my posts about my slipped discs, weak leg and large horse that I have only ridden twice, and I contemplated selling her (but you all talked me out of it!!). Well my back is getting better slowly, my mare has been ridden fairly regularly by my neice and I have booked a weeks annual leave ealry August and set this as my get riding again week!! This may seem a way off, but i want to tone up and feel stronger (i fell off in stand as my leg wouldnt work when i tried to get off) so this is my target date!! My mare is so good, so my lack of confidence issues are groundless and I just need to get on with it! There feel better now I have made that decision - cold pimms and lemonade for you all!

Good luck and well done for making a tough decision

Good luck. I'm sure you will be fine. My last Clydie was absolutely brilliant when I got back on about 6 months after breaking my ankle. When we first got her we had to block her in with straw bales and sister holding her head firmly for me to mount but 31/2 yrs later, she stood in the field with our portable step and arranged her legs so as to make herself as low as possible. Sadly the Clydie was pts aged 11 a few months later. Afterwards I had a much higher mounting block built and now get on and off with that. My IDx stands beautifully next to it, after self-importantly marching up to it.
