I am guessing its different in devon!

Is it not already being ridden by one? A sane person doesn't hack in head collar on any pony let alone a just broken in.
Does Devon not sell bridles.

Just because they are not riding it in a bridle it doesn't mean they are a novice rider.......intelligence isn't always linked to riding ability!

(Disclaimer - That is not to say that all people who ride in head collars lack intelligence :tongue3: )

Agreed seen far worse. But you wouldn't credit me with any intelligence if I hacked my newly backed Appy around in a head collar-no insurance!

Which is the point I was making, they may not have any intelligence (but who are we to judge/assume?!) but it doesn't mean they are a novice, therefore saying it is not suitable for a novice is a fairly reasonable statement.

oh yes us people in devon are complete loons..

Agree totally!

But what a lovely little pony; if I had a kiddie needing a nice safe little pony I'd give my right arm and/or a million dollars for a super little mare like that...... what a pony in a zillion, plus you could breed for her in the future.

Worth far more than a derisory £450 imo.

Don't see the big deal personally. Plenty of people break in with a very basic bitless bridle. Yes it's just a headcollar but providing all the groundwork has been done, in theory it shouldn't make much difference. If the pony Spooked and wanted to bolt it would do so regardless of what head gear it had on- Pelham, snaffle, headcollar or otherwise. I've seen plenty of disturbing adverts, this one doesn't offend me at all.

I thought I recognized the username, these are the people who think that rearing and rolling over on a child is funny. They posted it on You Tube which ended up on here.
Isn't the internet a small place, so no I wouldn't give them tuppence.

Other adverts that stood out where a few broken in two year olds, so again I would pass those by as well. Maybe the market is really bad still? It depends on what you want I guess.

Um, sorry, am not with you??? (scratches head frantically!!).

Sorry, probably being dim - but am not sure what it is you're saying here????

well, their past internet history aside (which I don't know) my current youngster is being backed bitless (although he has been bitted) and my next one will as well, both will be ridden bitted when ready. just sayin' (it's an old school way of doing it-gones on the basis that the horse's mouth is not used as only means for 'control'..).

Wasn't that a grey pony called Ed, or was it another one?

Totally agree with this! Bits do not control horses (or ponies!!)
