I, too, specialise in working GP dressage horses in Rolkur; I find it can really help for advanced movements such as working trot. :rolleyes:

T1 - I have to admit to my hands being all over the place most of the time, depending on what her Dizzyship is doing at the time lol, but I note your comment and will work on it, thank you :D

C76 - oh yum yum! I will try and get the Dizz to work longer, as in your picture. She's having a bit of an issue at the moment, in that every time one asks for a trot she thinks canter and ends up all over the place (she does this with more competant riders on, which sort of makes me feel better). Have to work quite hard to get a steady rythem, but hopefully that will improve with time :). If I can get her working and looking like your lad does, I will be one happy bunny :D

B - *mumbles uninteligebly, swallows JTs* ta hun :D She's learnign that encouragement to go forward does not mean go faster! Now her head is steady, we should be able to get somewhere :D.

M - we will just have to give you lessons, or lend you some 'deep and round' :D

C - lol lass, is that like one would boil a pudding? Think I'd rather have Jelly Tots :D

yes she is overbent in yours pics but you admit that yourself - its not as if you posted a pic asking for criticism of it (incidentally this is why i don't post piccies on here very often :rolleyes:)
i think you need to focus on getting her to take the contact forwards- so lots of work getting her forwards from your leg into a soft contact- try not to fix your hands too much, think about it being a bit more elastic (so when you give with your hands she should want to seek to take the contact forwards). i would also say that if she canters off when you put your leg on- make her canter forwards but work properly. you can also play around a lot with quick transitions walk-trot-walk-trot-canter-trot-walk etc to get her really listening to your aids. am sure it will sort itself out with time and hard work :)

D - ta hun :). We're doing a lot of quick transition work, but I think the whole head thing has nullified any benefits that might have been deriven from it :(. Hopefully now we can work properly.... :D. I will keep your words in mind and work on it :D. If D2 can get the video working I'll ask her to record one of our sessions - you'll see that I'm still tense going into the canter, and coming down from it, but the bit in the middle is getting better :). More practice and the bits at either end will improve as well :D. Lesson tomorrow morning - instructor will be expecting the usual not-so-much-fun, so I'm hoping that she has reason to be pleasantly surprised :D
 
Well now you know that there was a problem with the bit (and have sorted it), perhaps this overbending was another symptom of that? I've often wished that I had 'listened' to what the horse was telling me before it had to SHOUT. Maybe if I had this time, I wouldn't have used my head as a landing point either.

PaS - you may well be right hun :). She certainly wasn't listening or able to concentrate on what we should have been/were trying to do :(. Definately stay away from landing on heads, is bad for the health (and the pocket!).
