I am in a quandry - what should i do?

I'm excited for you, I was over the moon when i got my first pony at 12! all my friends had imported warmbloods and my mum bought me a totally green pony from the snake farms (i lived in thailand!) riding other peoples horses is fine, but its not the same! your daughter will be over the moon!

whats the horse like btw!
 
oh dear i am welling up. You have all made my mind up, thankyou. I did also worry as i was holding her back. She does work hard and does apreciate everything.
A lot of sense has been spoken. I will get an awful lot of pleasure as well.

My parents have never had masses of money,but they helped me buy my horses and it was the best thing I could have done for me, so go for it if you can!
 
You say your Daughter is 12 and will get up happily at 4am for shows?

How much do you spoil her and just how many daughters have you got. It sounds like one and it sounds like you should go for it. Life isnt all profit you know.

I am still struggling with feeling guilty because I have got eraly retirement and other people who would like it havent.
I could write a book on worrying about being too happy and as for feeling Guilty I have a Honours Degree in that.

You sound like you have your head screwed on and dont make a point of spoiling your daughter so go on if you can afford it go for it.
 
I agree with Shills, Have an agreement that she gets the horse on the condition that she works with your rescues for X hours per week as a pay back!

I am sure that she would anyway, but it kind of teached the value of it all etc.

Your daughter sounds like she deserves this - have fun telling her!
 
If your daughter is talented, the pony is what she wants, you can afford it if you pay by instalments and you'll all get some pleasure from it - then go for it

Alternatively, if your daughter is a good rider and the dealer wants his ponies/horses getting out and about to showcase them, could she ride for him? That way, she'll be able to compete whilst gaining experience on different ponies and you won't have to layout the money

I would love for the opportunity that your daughter is being given by you. Being in not the same predicament, but similar in that I have four ponies but all of which have problems/rescue/retired. I would love for one to be able to really let go on and just enjoy without the worries.

You will be the best Mum in the world for doing this for her. She sounds very lucky to have you, and you her.
