I have my ODE times for sunday and my dressage is at 9- may not think thats early but i will have to course walk etc..as well as warm up before that and to give us time etc to get there thats an extra 2 hrs

Can't even plait the night before as he is living out...although bunches might work.

Im not really complaining just a shock of getting up that early !

not really looking foward to the dressage which has medium trot either- don't think that movement will happen!
 
I think you have spent toooo long not eventing! 9am dressage isnt that early! Stop moaning!!

9am dressage - that's a lie in! At Bishop Burton I was there and walking the course at 6am! Left home at 4.30am... and it's pretty much my nearest event!

Its just the shock..:p

I am off to poplar park for the BRC qualifiers although not riding for any club etc.
Just go get him out again more than anything.

Have a flat lesson in a minute which i have the feeling is going to be very hard work for both of us hehe!
 
If your horse is well-behaved, your plaits are firm and you have a thin New Zealand with a hood, you can plait the night before and leave him out. I always do - they might be a bit fluffy in the morning, but not so anyone but you will notice...
 
9am! That's LATE!!
I'm much more worried about what looks like its going to be a 6:30pm XC at Tweseldown in a couple of weeks.
Would much rather an early start than getting back to the yard at 10pm.

Can you possibly walk the course the day before?

I was up at 4.30 am last sun for Stratford Hills. I plaited some of the manes night before and put a fly rug on with a lightweight on top. They still looked ok next morning.
 
We have 8.30 dressage this weekend so that means get there at 7.15 so we can walk the course that means leaving at 5.45 and I too have to plait in the morning.

Last weekend I was up at 4.45 to get sorted for an event with a 9 am dressage time.

but girl on my yards time is 5pm dressage and 7pm XC

Alteast I will be home by 2pm
 
i was only joking im not moaning :s

cant plait up night before his plaits are always a bit dodgy anyway.....and his fly rug will rub them out...and thats all that has a neck rug on at the moment!

Just not a morning person- and its more the fact that i am always nervous in the mornings of ODE's so will probably feel a bit stressed running around at that time of morning!

Am looking foward to it though

I plait up and pop a neck cover on the night before

My horses live out in the summer too. A light weight rug and neck cover would be fine

I prefer thread to bands as they tend to stay in better.

Get lorry loaded, water on board, hay etc etc. Make sure stud holes are cleaned out and plugged.

All youll have to do is drag pony in from field, quick brush and put on lorry and off you go

at my most reacent show i was in the ring by 8am, which ment i had to be on the field by 6.30 to warm up and get ready which ment i would have had to leave home at about 3 am. I cheated and hired a stable for the night and stayed in the lorry over night. I didnt get home untill 9pm so money well spent on the stable.
 
Thanks BBs everything will be in the lorry ready i do it every time i go out...less to do in the morning. I can't plait him up properly unless he had a proper hood...which i will invest in at some point. But bunching them up will save me some time
