Had a massive fall out with sis yesterday, as she was getting Jerry ready to hack out, was a stupid argument, and we both said a lot of stuff we shouldn't have. Anyway it ended in her storming off and leaving a half tacked up Jerry on the yard.... so me feeling incredibly angry finished tacking him up, grabbed my hat and managed to get myself on (broken leg not being very helpful, but at least I can put some weight on it now)

Off I went for a hack, he was so sharp after having a day off, and the wind was really up his tail, we spooked at everything on the way out, and discovered stirrups and semi healed ankle are not a good combination. At this point I should have turned back, feeling how full of himself he was, but was still so angry, and wasn't thinking, so on we went. Went along the bridleway, did a loop and then turned for home. The last field of the bridleway is now stubble, but I never canter there as is far too close to home for my liking, but apparently sis always gives him a canter at this point

he started jogging, which was agony, and after a few minutes, decide a canter would probably be more comfortable, got him to walk correctly for a few strides and then popped him into canter.

wow!

His canter was amazing, so much more balanced and so easy to collect, until... very scary bag in the hedge, and suddenly we are in the middle of the field

had another few nice canter strides and then walked the rest of the field.

Got home in one piece, but my leg is so painful today, so will probably not risk another hack for a bit. I know if I hadn't been so angry I would never of even thought of getting on and hacking him so soon, but I'm so glad I did

Sorry, random pointless post, and sis and I both friends again now

Fancy coming & trying it on a psychotic chestnut ID? I wimped out today & I don't have a broken leg!

Good on you! Now use the same attitude to tell your sister NOT to canter your horse in that field
