Just HAVE to share with everyone, I was meant to get my vet out in April to re-assess Maiden (she tore a tendon in February last year, had five months' box rest and has been on field rest since the beginning of July). Maiden's jabs were due so I decided to get my vet out to see her now anyway, becuase I thought that in all honesty she was going to tell me to give her until next year off. Vet was VERY impressed with how Maiden is moving and how her feet had improved so drastically since she last saw her in July

Vet thought that Maiden needs to get more weight off and the only way she's going to do that is by working. Therefore she is happy to have Maiden shod and in in-hand walk work starting mid-April

If all goes well, I should be walking her 10 mins down the road by June/ July time

I said I am happy to give her as much time off as needed, I have no hopes of doing more than walk/ trot/ canter out hacking, she will never be expected to school again and certainly not jump. Vet was more than happy with that as long as I take it really, really, really slowly and if it all goes wrong, stick her back out in the field for another nine months.
So although I am VERY worried about it all, I am over the moon that I have, provisionally, been given the go-ahead to ride my beautiful pony again!!

I couldn't believe it! I fully expected her to say "call me in January"! I had already had a fab morning riding my friend's fab horse, and then when the vet left I got a call with a job offer, then went home to ride Berlin and even he behaved!!
