...and my horse

As some know, after bashing my head and then not being allowed to ride for nearly three months, I seemed to have mislaid my nerve, which is not good when riding the Dizzy dingbat

Yesterday my instructor rode Dizz and she went well and tried hard. Instructor thinks she just needs to work

.

So, I asked D1 to ride with me every morning (nerves being shot and all that), and at six-fifteen this morning I lay in bed crying, thinking D1 wasn't going to get up (she's not good at mornings). I knew I needed to get on Dizz, even if it was a case of getting on, walkng in a circle and getting off again

But D1 got up and went with me

. And I rode
grin.gif
. At a walk and in the school, but I rode the Dizzy one and felt in control and almost relaxed
grin.gif
. She was an absolute angel
grin.gif
. Couldn't go faster than a walk as the school was hard under its three inches of snow (vaseline in the hooves works well!), but she was responsive and listened and I worked on relaxing and doing what she needed me to do. Afterwards I couldn't stop grinning

Well done for getting on, and getting on with it!

I know what it's like to try to regain lost nerve, especially when you feel a little silly because small steps seem like huge steps...but just keep plugging away! You should be pleased with yourself!

C55 - thank you, and the Dizzy one thanks you too
grin.gif

S - we'll all get there
grin.gif

LB - yes, she's a star lol. Gave her a lie-in this morning
wink.gif
Will ride this afternoon if the roads have given up their icy coats!

SP - oh yes, I actually cried yesterday - relief I think
smile.gif
, though I know full well that I might get on today and she might be less than co-operative lol. Horses!

CCP - we will get there hun. Raff is very special and so are you

. I think that, like others before me who's nerves have gone walkabout, it's the knowledge that I've done so much with this daft bat before, and now I can't. We've galloped and she came back to me at the touch of her rein, she's given me the last ounce of her strenght, she's gone where I've asked her to (even when she'd really rather not), she's taken me backwards down ditches/into a van/into fences, she's spun and she's stropped, she's piaffed and passaged and gone up on her toes (and sometimes a bit on her back legs), and she's tried to scrape me off into a hedge (that one was funny - we both came out covered in little white bobbly bits lol), but I was never scared. Now I am. And she didn't do anything wrong, it was a nothing fall, just a silly fall, but the result
frown.gif
Ah well. I was scared when I first got her, but we kept doing just little bits (I was scared of the Big Ginger Thing rather than scared of anything she'd done), so now we'll just keep on doing little bits, and you're right, there's a long and lovely journey ahead of us

Well happy that it went well for you xx

Well done! I think a celebratory hot choccy with marshmallows, squirty cream, a Flake AND chocolate sprinkles is in order.

And that's just for getting out of bed at 6.15.

That is great, well done you! Ahh I am dreading bringing my horse back into work in spring after I gave him time off since Nov due to my ill health. I will be shaking, worried and little will be big to me, he is not really the quiet type lol ;-) It is tough restarting after time off!
