Afder a bad ride at RS where the horses bolted with me and i was dumped/trowen into a fence, a wodden one as well. story so far!

And i went for my frist ride in 6 weeks! as i pulled my hip. Anyway just befor my ride my pony went lame! I felt to worried about riding another pony so i put it off, until yesterday! 1 hour hack on a horse with a long neck! and it was really windy and then rainy at the same time! i thoung the pony was going to throw me! But it made me forget why i was worried and all went well! sooo happy. but still worried abbout a lesson as las time i asked for a trot to walk i got a gallop! and i cant get it out of my head! ive falled off loads and got back on, why am i so worried! has anyone else had this.
note i am 17 stone but RS said it could take me and i was on a shirex 16hhder!

Good for you. You're going to find the whole process of learning to ride so much easier once you are physically more fit.

You've just had a loss of confidence. Make sure you get back on & have a good lesson with lots of postives (dont attempt any new/hard things). Everyone's confidence comes and goes to some extent. Just keep breathing!!

That is really harsh

I don't thiink she was asking for that type of advice, nor do I think it is a particularly nice welcome to the forum.

Anyhoo.........I don't think that any rider is completely free of nerves and I think that it is actually quite sensible to be cautious. However, the more you ride (and the more you fall off!

) the more your confidence will grow.

Just relax and enjoy your lesson and soon you will wonder why you were ever nervous!

i started riding at 20 stone plus last year i am now 18.2 i run every where with my haffy we run to the yard, back to the field. he can carry my weight i am not a heavy rider. he will canter with me but will not with a 9 stone rider.
dont lose heart and keep going

I'm confused. You've been riding for a year, you own your own horse???? but can't go walk to trot?

Good luck on the weight loss.

Take heart. Yes, you will find it easier when you have achieved your weight loss. Your balance and flexibilty will improve no end. The nerves and confidence thing will come with time. Maybe wait until your own pony is sound again as you trust him so much. I am 43 and choose my mounts very carefully after some really horriffic falls in my past. I only now feel happy and relaxed on my own mare whom we have owned for 7 years. I will hack, jump etc with very few nerves as I feel safe. This is how you need to feel to regain your confidence. So please don't worry. Just give it a little time.

Welcome to the forum, and don't bother reading posts from people who haven't read yours properly!
Enjoy your riding and don't worry about loss of confidence - it happens to us all from time to time (even if some people don't admit it). Just keep going, doing what you enjoy, and challenge yourself when you are ready. Think about how good you'll feel when it all goes well (even if it's not perfect), not about how things might go wrong... Gradually you'll feel braver and braver and be ready for that canter!
