Hubby went away on business and guess what I did when he was gone????

..... sneakily bought an Ifor 511:eek:

Guess what happened when I told him on the phone?

You'll never guess????

He told me to buy a Kia to tow it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am soooo lucky and don't I know it! (though, in fairness, I have been nagging him for about 3 years for a car and trailer)

Now I need a Kia sorento so which one would tow it with 2 big huge cobs?;)

Gees I wish my boyfriend was as understanding! When I rang him and said I've decided to sell the box and buy a trailer you would have thought it was the end of the world. I only calmed him down by reminding him it was my money!

When you look at Kia Sorrentos check the towing capacity as the newer ones have a much lower capacity. Also check the drive shaft carefully, there are problems with them, we bought one and it had to go back under warranty.

There was over £4k worth of work required on a £5k car.

Had the drive shaft failed while the car was being driven it could easily have caused an accident, and would have written off the car.

I have an 08 model and have towed an Ifor 505 and 2 heavy cobs with ease. As already said the new models don't tow as much. Mine is a manual and tows 3000kg the automatic tows 3500kg. I have the XE model and it has everything I need. I've had mine from new and it's never let me down I love it.

Good advice thanks, will write this down and bear this in mind closely!

Here's the devil in it, took him for a spin in a friends 4 x 4 and he was like a baby in the backseat:

This is funny. My husband is away on a stag weekend soon and I plan to secretly buy.... another horse. Wonder if he'll tell me to buy more stables to go with it....

Brilliant!:D What they gonna do when they get home? Let them sulk is my motto. My hubby has learned that I won't learn, so far when he's been away I've:

1. Pulled up 50 trees from the garden and had it turfed

Before:

After:

2. Bought and installed a patio

3. Got this:

4. And I had the kitchen tiled!

5. oh and I did this to the living room for my cats:

Going away on business is an expensive proposition for him when I'm left to my own devices lol:D

I like your style! I did almost exactly the same thing whilst my husband was working a weekend.I went to the horse sales and bought an Ifor 505,then rang and told him I'd done it.2 months later I put a deposit on an 07 Sorento and told him when he came home.:D:They are fabulous for towing and I love mine.Hope you find a good one and have fun!

ps,I have form for this sort of thing,so far I've bought a house,a kitchen,a pony,a trailer and a car without his input, but as I tell him,at least I don't waste money on handbags and stuff like that.

I love this thread. Unfortunatley I never do anything like this anymore, I feel too guilty. But then if I ask for something I usually get it, got new horse this weekend.

I like your style! I did a similar thing,I bought an Ifor 505 at a horse sale and rang my husband at work afterwards to tell him. Then 2 months later I rang him at work to say I'd put a deposit on an 07 Sorento to tow it.I do have form though, previously I have bought a house a kitchen and a pony without his input.:D

I hope you find a good Sorento and have lots of fun with it-I love mine.

I brought a rice trailer them a sorento and it's great.
It pulls my 17 hh warmblood and sons pony with ease.
Mines a 54 plate with leather and the mod cons.
No problems with it yet

I have a lovely OH. When I was loaning S I asked what he'd say if I said I'd like to buy her. His response was 'I'm surprised it's taken you this long to ask'
Also asked if it would be ok to buy a new saddle and he seems ok with that (I gave an idea of cost)
Sadly I probably won't get new saddle. The reason for the change would be to get a longer one but it looks like S can't take a longer one.

This makes it sound like I have to ask permission to spend any money...I don't but as it's OUR money it's only fair to involve him.
