... and taking up knitting!!!

Knitting is less emotional, less expensive and less time consuming!

After the way my luck has been going, I think this would be the best option for me

I do hope it gets better for you- stay postive and think of all the stuff you have achieved and it will come right.........

Count me in! Perhaps the vets will take knitted jumpers in payment of their bills.... I am sure I am keeping at least one vet in full time employment at the mo and with winter approaching, he might appreciate a nice woolly-pully

oh, gosh, i've been there. i sat and sobbed in the corner of the yard for about 3 hours, once, after some particularly devastating news. then i pulled myself together, realised how much i'd miss about horses, and carried on. again.

guinea pigs would be more fun than knitting, btw. and just think how long a bale of shavings would last!

I wonder if we could knit a Thermatex type rug cheaper than it would cost to buy one? I started knitting a cross country sweater for when my horse point to pointed years ago - never did quite finish it......
I don't think you can give up horses - they are just in your blood somehow.

Does anyone remember, there was a cartoon strip about a naughty pony and his long suffering owner.... in Horse and Pony magazine back in the late 80s or possibly early 90s... One strip I remember very clearly had a girl saying something like "Whenever I feel sad I think of my pony and visit him in his field..... then I feel suicidal!!"

I feel like that some days! I will join you on the knitting forum! As our farmer says "If you have got livestock, you have got problems...."

I'll join! Although more because I can't even afford to get a horse in the first place but I'm sure I could afford a ball of wool and some needles.

Hmmm, I wonder what wool I should knit my first scarf with???

wool is REALLY pricy these days, it would cost more to knit a jumper than buy one.

BUT you caould go to primark and buy lots of cheap jumpers and unravel the wool, and make one from that

LMAO!

It could be as addictive as HHO, there could be a competition knitters section for those who can cable effortlessly, and we can all mutter about people who choose to do macramé instead (natural knitting types)

Lol @ you paying for your vets Disco!

I think I'll go for purple fluffy wool for my first scarf. That'll be easy to begin with. One big mass of knitting. A jumper might be more of a challenge, we may require a support group.
