I am such a Worry Wart - as my kids call me often enough!

Tomorrow my daughter is going to the first hunt meet on her own - never hunted without me before

My mare is still swollen and bruised from getting cast

and daughters pony has only just come sound, so she is instructed to just go to the meet and follow for only half an hour if they stay close to home, if they go charging off for miles to find then she is to come home.

Already my stomach is in knots and I hope it continues to pour down so she changes her mind - mean aren't I

I'm sure she will be fine!

Does she have a mobile to take with her, just in case?

I bet other people at the hunt will look out for her, hunting people are usually a friendly lot.

No I will follow her up the road to the meet, have camera ready and then follow the hunt in my car - keeping a very close watch for the little girl on the liver chestnut!

Put something on the pony so when you frantically catch up with the hunt and ask if anyone has seen your child on the bay/grey/chestnut pony, and they say which one, you can say the one with...green ribbon in tail, little heart clipped onto bum, big L plate tied to her back, whatever. Let mine go off at about the same age and she loved it but I lost loads of weight that day parking up and running about trying to find her at every field/pub/covert! She was fine, I was stiffer than the pony the next day

LOL - I will be exactly the same tomorrow

Good idea about making her stand out but don't worry I will know most of the followers and hopefully will pick her out easily!!

I just can't believe hunting has started already - where did this year go?

I can't believe it either, cubbing doesn't start till september and hunting not till the end of october. It's all a bit unreal to me.

The Staghounds have a longer season though generally. They start on the first Saturday in August and finish on the last day of April. So daughter will be Autumn Staghunting tomorrow (or should I say today - must get to bed!!

My daughter went hunting by herself when she was 12 too. I just had a quick word with the Field Master and she kept half and eye on her. Other members were great too at looking out for her.

I'm sure she will be fine and will have a great time.

QR: Well they came back in one piece - phew

The most work Trixie did was jogging all the way home
