i knew this was the horse for me before i even looked at her, felt the same with my last 2.

she arrives next week - but i need insurance before she hits my side ideally.

Other than NFU and petplan... who else can i try?

can i just insure her for hacking? as thats all i will do + schooling??

on petplan i think it worked out at group 3/4 ?

any advice with that? its been 4 years since i have done this :o and i have alist of people i need to ring - farrer/register with vets etc :)

thanks :D

i know you have asked for others but i found NFU was the best

congrats on your new horse how exciting. when do you get her??
we want details :D:D

i have had my horse nearly a year but it feels like so much longer :) but in a good way.

have to bake a cake to celebrate :D

tomorow!!!!

shes coming a day early :D

buttt i really need insuarnce from the word go! nfu are fab but not online until monday and im mega paranoid......

petplan - can you buy instantly online??!

I'm with SEIB. You can buy instantly online and they have different insurance groups according to what you plan to do with the horse. Never had any problems with them. Quite competitively priced too.

I don't think you'd be covered for the first 14 days of any illness though, I have mine insured with NFU and other one with KBIS

Is horse currently insured?
I would say just be on the phone to NFU first thing Monday morning. I think they offer an excellent package and in the event of a claim, they aim to pay out in 2 weeks.

If you haven't then I would recommend you go for £5,000 vets cover if you don't insure with NFU. I am currently in the middle of a claim for damaged tendons with NFU and will probably just about reach that figure. NFU have this figure as standard, I need to change my other pony's insurance so he too is insured for that amount. Having had some serious vets bills, I now realise the £2k amount he has really won't go very far at all.

I'm with KBIS. They paid out quickly for a claim with my previous horse and I think they are reasonably priced. Good luck with your new neddy!

AMTRUST.. You are covered first 14 days for accidents and death, then after 14 days everything else. I have Dublin age 8 ID x insured for £300 with them this includes 5000 vets, 1500 tack, accidental injuries, death, theft or straying, never did hospitalisation it made it go up (150)All 3 of mine are with them, nice people to talk to on the phone cover once you pay. they do ask for 2 stage vetting, though Ive done 5 stages for Alfie and Dublin cos they came from other places, Penny was the school horse .
Good luck with your new horse, exciting isnt it....

thanks all :)

las ttime i was with NFU... but tbh they worked out at like £45 a month - petplan are coming out at £30!!! big difference.... (and they were fab).

NFU were cracking for paying out but ive heard petplan are too

i will try KBIS and SEIB

should i try e and L (joke!!)!!! i know how bad they are :D

KBIS are only offering upto £3000, think i will go with petplan on SEIB... as they offer upto £5000 which covers colic...... (nightmare thoughts lol)!

South Essex are excellent and Brit insurance through them is very good value. I had cause to claim a large amount for vets fees and they paid within days no quibble.

As said before you'll be insured for injury from the get go, but not covered for illness for 14 days.

I'm with rural, arranged through Equestrian World Insurance services and they are very helpful. Very competitive and flexible to what you want for coverage, and I can confirm that they are currently paying out for vets fees, so would recommend them!

i almost paid for one of the 2 i said before but they wanted the money upfront - id rather pay monthly................ :/

I will have a look at a few more but SEIB?? i think wouldnt pay for hospitilisation (does that just mean livery or vet bills within hospitilisation???)

im confused and need help!!!

i just want vets fees upto 5k (no less)....and need it online.... but petplan wont have it without a vets certificate. bummer.
