Ive been looking back at some posts and think hummmm thats good avice I have given, and people on my yard tend to come to me for advice. but when it comes to my own horse I never know what the right thing to do is,

Do you get what I mean.

e.g my freinds horse came in lame, so I told her pick his feet out check there are no stones, check for any heat, cold hose him for 20 mins see how he is etc, My horse came in lame one day and had to run off to find someone to have a look at her for me, I just panic when its my own?

Hahaha Im exactly the same so dont worry! I think its just having the confidence to trust in your decision without others backing you up - its different when its not your horse and you can look at it rationally and with your head, rather than with your head and heart which is when I become stuck!!

Although recently am glad I went with my gut and got the vet out for my own boy and ignored everyone else - he has navicular, kissing spine, done his tendon, a splint causing issues and to top it all off the lower section of his hock has collapsed!! And I was told I was just over-reacting to him being "cold backed (which he wasnt when I bought him!)" and him looking off was in my head...... so do go with what you think might be wrong and get it checked if needed haha!!

You're not the only one at all. My last yard the YO was wonderful, really knew her stuff and was brilliant in a crisis, knew exactly what to do with any injury, except when her old TB got his leg caught in a gate and sliced his leg open, she completely went to pieces and couldn't even ring the vet she was panicking so much, bless her.

ahh I love it someone else like me, and hit the nail on the head with your advice,

Im not a nelly know it all who goes around telling everyone what they should be doing but have had my dobbins for 22 years so have got a bit of experience. and I dont judge people if they ask me something like how to tie a haynet or ask why do we wash buckets when they lick them clean lol

Ahhahahaa you just made me burst out laughing, I think tying a haynet is a sensible question and when novices ask it fair enough (when horse owners do however it makes my blood boil just a little - there needs to be some sort of basic training for all new horse owners I swear!) but the buckets LOL!!! I never do judge people and am very helpful on the yard but do find that some of the questions could go in a funny horse quotes scrapbook or something hehe x
