His mane is a bit wild! Will you be using neck covers? I always leave my boys mane a bit wild in winter to allow for the inevitable rubs from the neck covers. He always comes out of winter looking like a Shetland but soon tidies up !

I only use neck covers when it’s really quite chilly. I am trying to rug him up well enough that he stays warm but I’m not one for overrugging at all.

I’ll attempt to sort it this weekend so he goes into next week looking super smart. Like I said, I’m just rubbish with manes - Nova used to hate her mane being touched so the only way I could control it was by hacking at it with scissors - it always grew out fine but looked awful for a few weeks. And Badger was hogged!

I’m sure he will be fine but any tips on how to get it back under control will be gratefully received!!
 
We had our first little jump at home today and he was incredible. Kept it quite simple and small, but he was so honest and the double was a bit too long for him and he just tried his hardest. He still needs to work out where his feet are going and build up some strength to help improve his technique but he’s so game and will try his hardest.

I’m not going to be jumping him much in the next few months, and if I do I’m going to be concentrating mostly on grids. We’ve got a winter of mostly hacking, poles and groundwork ahead of us!

It feels like things are starting to click between us - in my second viewing, I struggled to get him into canter and today, he was popping into canter so easily and maintaining it.
