So I placed an enquiry in response to an advert of a horsebox for sale asking if it was possible to view the lorry and this was the email response I got.....

Hi, I was away to my mother in law and I just got to a pc and saw your email. This van has a full service history and all documentation is present and in my name. It has been stored in undercover storage from new so the exterior is perfect very low miles. The final price is not negotiable: £2950. My husband died 2 months ago and I was left with it but I don`t even have a drivers license. If you agree I can send you the link to my private auction on eBay so you can buy it from there since I all ready had a buyer last week who came up with some fake notes. I don`t really trust someone else to come around my house. Please note that you will be able to check directly on ebay the registration and all the information about it because they did a HPI check(it does not have any outstanding finance). As soon as you will confirm the payment to eBay, I will proceed with the delivery without any additional costs for you. You will receive the van with all the documents. As you know eBay is the best company of online transactions. If you are indeed interested in buying it and have the funds, I will list it on eBay, as I have a 100% positive feedback with them.

Please let me know your decision.

Thank you

so she wants me to transfer her my money without viewing it and sit and wait for a delivery of a 7.5tonne lorry!!!

Be warned

Definite scam. Lots of these about at the moment. Never pay money for something this expensive unless you've got the item on front of you.

I don't know how they get away with it.....nasty gits.

Sad thing is some people- older generation ,like my mother perhaps, are so trusting and may actually go along with it.

But regardless if you trust other persons or not, how can you not react with wondering about who will be doing the delivery, or how it will be done?

... I don`t even have a drivers license.

Maybe it has the equivalent of a magical bedknob, and we're talking some sort of flying delivery? So just when you begin to wonder were it is, *POOF* it turns up...

P.S. I also think it is a scam.

The wording isn't quite right.......... they missed "Once upon a time" off the start & "I lived happily ever after having stolen your money" off the end! ;)

It's in her name but it's her husbands and she doesn't have a driving licence?

OK!

It's a scam and she's using pity to try and pull at heart strings.

Disgraceful....I didn't even finish reading the post...just the info I have mentioned was enough for me.

Good lord, i just read the rest of it. Laughable but not if you know what I mean.

Stupid idiots. I really feel for the people that get sucked in by this but it also makes me wonder how anyone does. It is so glaringly obvious.

I haven't seen the advert, however this could well be a scammer mentioned in previous posts?

My mistake, I did read the advert, however went away and came back to reply, forgetting I'd read it.
It does however, sound like a previously mentioned scammer's style though.

Doesn't it say somewhere about sending a link to the private auction (how can an auction on eBay be private anyway?) on eBay so you can buy it and then at the end say summat about if you're interested and have funds then they'll list it on eBay??

Eh?
