I can't believe I'm making another one of these posts already

I'm so sorry you've gone through all that heartache in such a short time and that you never got to enjoy Disco - lovely face and you've done the kindest thing for him.

I remember your fear sig catching my eye the previous time you posted. I hope once the sadness is past you will find a happier partnership with another horse that you can go on to enjoy for many years.

My heart goes out to you. So sad and unjust. Hopefully time will pass quickly and help heal what you have been through till the day some lucky horse has you as their owner. :(

So sorry to read this - and what a shame. Well done you for getting him checked out and well done your physio for spotting that there was a potential issue :(

that is so sad, i know what your going through but you made the right decision a credit to you for getting him checked and giving him peace when he was in so much pain, we are all sending you lots of hugs xx

I will probably remain horseless for a few months now, I have no money to buy one, and I don't think I could handle it right now if anything else went wrong.:(

You've had a rough time lately Faerie... :(

I think, when the time is right, another wee beastie in need of someone special will find you... After my son died, a yearling filly 'found' me whilst I was checking out a livery yard for a friend... She became the project I needed to find some sense in the world and made the sun shine again... I didn't have her for that long really before she had to be pts due to a gut torsion... Last autumn I was 'found' again when taking a friend to visit a stud... A (until then) fairly anti social to humans two year old decided he liked me and I just had to go back for a second visit... He came home a few days later... :D

It might be a sooky way of looking at it but I think people and animals come into our lives for a reason - and sometimes they leave too soon... And when we're ready, another will show up and help fill the space that was left behind...

You know yourself to be kind and willing to be decisive in horrible situations... Take time... Heal a little...

Oh this is soo sad , i'm gutted for you hun , your plans for him sounded so good , i'm glad he got to spend some time chilling out in the field though. RIP disco and big hugs to you, Al & Paddy I xx

A Treasured Friend

Blessed was the day you came into my life
I will treasure this day for ever and for always
You accepted me as I accepted you
I trusted you as you trusted me

You were the perfect companion for me I hope I was the perfect friend for you

As I looked after you in your time of need.
You are so brave despite the pain
You maintained the brightness in your eyes and the will to fight

1 will always remember you sweet Disco
I will never forget you for as long as i live

I hope and pray
That maybe some day
I will see you running free again
Until then my boy I say goodbye for now

Thanks again everyone for your kind words.:)

Ladydragon, your post really got to me, it's bad enough losing a horse, I can't begin to imagine how you must have felt losing a child.:(
I'm glad the little filly could help you heal, even if she didn't get to stay around for long enough either, and I wish you all the best and a long and happy time with your current project.:)

I'm sure you're right, and something will come along for me in time.:)

The thing with horses is that, despite the fact that they break our hearts sometimes, having them around is somehow good for the soul. :)

I can't imagine my life without them.:)

What an absolutely awe inspiring post. Such wise words from someone who definitely knows. I am taking all of the above on board.

OP - I say again, hugs. :)

massive (((((((((((hugs))))))))))))) to you. You've had such a tough time. :( He looked like such a sweet kind horse and i'm shore he will be thankfull to you for all you did for him. You did all you could and in the end you put him first and did what was best for him.

RIP Disco. Run free and out of pain. xx

Im so sorry for your loss , unfortunatly ive had a similar experience with a ex racer that had racedand regualrly beenseen by vet etc , after i got him and started working him it turned out that a small tiny scar on his face ( to be fair the trainer had shown me it and said he had the scar as a yearling , now4 year old ) was actually a fractured jaw and infection in the bone that was so bad it had rotted the roots of his teeth and started to come through his mouth . after further xrays and weeks of very strong anti biotics and pain killers there was nothing more we could do for him :( xx
