I can't believe it! Very long story.

I agree. Harsh as it seems if you really genuinely cannot afford to rent a field or some DIY space then I would enter him into the next sale closest to you.

Much as we all adore our horses (well most do!), family has to come first and the main thing for this horse at the moment is to move him away from the person he is with asap.

What a dreadful time for you. xx If you can't move him immediately you will have to explain to prospective buyers what to expect and that the girl is being very unreasonable. I certainly would NOT sell him to her, rather get him away as soon as possible. In the circumstances, if he was suitable, what about a reputable riding school that offered full working livery or find a reputable dealer. I recently put an ad on NFED for part loan of my boy and was inundated with responses. Good luck. xxx

Poor horse, that's all I can say. In a sh*t home already for the past year...fat headshy and now he's to be sold asap.

Get him onto cheapie grass livery, give the poor horse some tlc - then sell him. Re. Girl wanting him on 6 month loan first, everyone wants a horse on loan lol, any amount of damage can be done in that time and you're left with the mess like you are now. Bring him him, tidy him up and sell him - forget about loan.

I know it's probably the last thing you want to do, once bitten twice shy and all that, but if you have nowhere for him and no money, it might be best to let the people who came to see him take him on loan? He can't possibly get treated any worse and it would take the pressure off you. You have probably learned from the experience so you'll be stricter this time and keep tabs on him a bit more. You would have to be the world's most unlucky person to have it happen twice and it sounds like they have the money but want to be certain about him, rather than trying to get a horse on the cheap or pay in installments. If he's as nice as you say he is, you'll probably have your money in a month.

I'm sorry to be unsympathetic but this scenario has been going on for months it seems. I know it must be hard having the baby but this horse is also your responsibility. It sounds as though he has been left to get in this state due to the complete unsuitability of the lender/potential vendor and you haven't checked on him. To be honest as soon as she had breached the agreement once - by moving him and changing her numbers I would have found him and brought him home. I know you were selling him for financial reason so don't understand why you gave him to this girl to pay for later - it couldn't have helped your situation at all

I think you have no option but to collect the horse ASAP and do the right thing by him which is either find some grass livery in the short term whilst you sort him out and treat his eye infection, or find a nice dealer who will give you cash for him and spend a couple of weeks getting him back to health. Sorry to be blunt but I think you continuously find excuses for all the suggestions people give you

I'd agree with the others - if you really are desperate to sell an auction or reputable dealer might be the quickest and easiest way. You're in an expensive part of the country and every week you'll be keeping him will be costing you more - I think its time to cut your losses as you and your family must come first.

Don't feel guilty if you do send him to a dealer; if he's as good as you say he is, he'll land on his feet.
