You didn't think she'd stay that colour did you as all she's doing is loosing her foal fluff to her proper colour which I imagine will be something like her dam by the look of it. It will take a while and she will look a bit moth-eaten while she does it but it's nothing to worry about.

My baby is nine and a half weeks now and looks very moth eaten. Her bright chestnut coat is going and underneath she was hiding the most gorgeous very dark liver coat

I had three bright bay early foals and they are now all turning much darker!

As for the polythene bag I would not allow it as they can easily break some off and choke.
