Alf's halo firmly in place today! He had a bath and a makeover, and I left his door open so that he could wander round the yard, eat a bit of grass, and dry off in the sunshine. 30 minutes later, i realised he hadn't appeared, and pooped my head round the corner to find him standing in the doorway, gazing longingly at the grass in the middle of the yard! I tried to persuade him out with a handful of grass, but he flatly refused to come out until I put a rope round his neck - at which point he made a beeline for the grass.

He's a funny old stick - has no qualms about pulling me around when I'm leading him, and trying to buck me off when I'm riding him, but he has some very set ideas about what he can and can't do! Freestyling it out of the stable is obviously not acceptable behaviour!

Blimey, I like to think that I insist on good stable manners, but all of mine would have legged it out of their stables for the grass!

Spike and Lola would have too! Spike would almost certainly have jumped the slip rail and gone for a jolly too. Alf's halo is shining very brightly today!

He is so handsome!

There is a reason he looks smart. I took a pic of him this morning, and realised that he looked like a common old irish bog donkey, so he was dragged in, bathed and scalped!

This was the pic...

and this was half way through proceedings. He wasn't pleased...

What a dear boy. And a very handsome one too.

I love him. He's a bit of a crock now, but he was such a star in his younger years, and he's such a lovely chap to have around - he deserves all the spoiling he gets! I'm normally quite practical about horses, but this guy makes me go weak at the knees. Love him!

lovely stables and stunning boy too.

He's very spoilt - he gets the corner stable, which is massive, and has windows at the far end, so he can watch over the school when he's not supervising goings on on the yard.

It is lovely, but unfortunately the property has just gone on the market, so I may well be out on my ear in the not too distant future. i think I'll be lucky to get somewhere as perfect as this again!

C'mon, Auslander, no-one's going to fall for the I'm a no nonsense dispassionate horse owner spiel :D. Just look how you grafted when S the S got poorly.

Sorry, m'dear, but we have got you rumbled, you're a big softy!

Shhh.

Spike the Spare got a dispassionate lead rope wrapped round his naughty little backside the other day, as he galloped flat out past me during one of his regular jaunts around the place after jumping out. It was a completely pointless thing to do, but it didn't half make me feel better!

LOL . . . Kal got one of those today when he tried to tow me towards some grass . . . yes, it's out of character; yes, he's on box rest and CRAVING outside time and grass; but, NO you do NOT treat me like the tail on a kite!

He stopped in his tracks, looked very contrite and led beautifully after that. Didn't last, though . . . witness his appalling behaviour post bath . . . sigh.

P

I've got one that will limbo under chains and lean against stable guards till they break, if you leave the door slightly ajar when you go in to skip he'll make a dash for freedom.

However when he got mud fever and was left to wander round the yard with hay in his stable he did the same as Alf and I would often find him standing looking out the door as if there was a door between him and the outside world.

He is GAWJUS, how very sweet, have to say Ebony would have been out like a shot. Left her the other day with the rope across the door and she Limoed under it and sculked off across the yard.
