Sorry - general moan.

I am looking for a nice 2nd hand saddle - maybe 2. Preferably a bates dressage or jumping but other makes are okay as long as they are medium fit... (dont worry about fit, a friend of mine is a master saddler and will check whatever I get)... but I just cant find one!!! I am on a reasonable budget - but by no means tight... I would get friend to find me one, but she specialises in VVVVVVV. expensive saddles that would basically be all of my student loan for the year. Then I would be all dressed up and nowhere to go bacause I couldnt afford anything else!!

I have looked on ebay - there are a few but either seem to go for £800 (out of price range) or £100 and I am wondering what's wrong with them... Does anyone else have 2nd hand saddle blues?

Well, we are not allowed to advertise on here, but my Mum has a Black Country Eden dressage saddle M fit - very dark havana for sale for reasonable pennies (say, half of what you mentioned above;)), if you are interested?
 
Again, not allowed to advertise, but I have a lovely Jeffries Falcon dressage saddle, in havanna, 17inch medium for sale..PM me!
 
Yes... I have second hand saddle blues as I can't seem to sell my Falcon VSD GP saddle, it's med wide and black and I only want a couple of hundred quid for it:(;)
 
I bought a second hand bates Isabel (leather version) for £600, in fab condition and I love it, especially as I had had so much trouble getting a saddle to fit that particular horse!

I have also, in the past bought a second hand Ideal Jessica for £360, I sold it a couple of years later for £350!

Both these saddles were bought off ebay and then checked by a master saddler.

Really? Haha, I am ideally after a brown one ( I mean, I'd still take a black one, but I think I prefer brown) and i find the opposite!! Where are you looking? We need to switch!

Ebay! I find for the makes im looking at there are maybe 6 brown to 1 black one on there and the blacks seem to be £150 more!

Maybe i should get get a brown bridle and admit defeat on black?? BUUUTTT ive just got a lovely JW bridle in black that im reluctant to make redundant!


OOH and have checked tackquest, saddles direct, pre loved etc

How strange! I cant really fins any that i like of either colour TBH. Maybe I'm just being cheap, but I'm not going to pay £800 for a 2nd hand saddle!

Going to check tackquest, saddles direct and preloved now!

Well....I did....And I got a barely used, the girth straps were barely marked, and it had never been reflocked, Barnsby Milton for around half of the new cost.

Yup, cost me most of my student loan for the final semester....but I was so snowed under with work, I wasn't going partying!

It looks lovely, but I will be honest with you - £650 is going to be a bit too much out of my budget. Thanks though, and if you decide to drop the price and have a quick and easy sale, please keep me in mind :-)
 
Got a 17 and half medium black Albion legend dressage that Im not advertising v cheap
old but sound ( me and the saddle)pm me if interested
 
I'm also not advertising but I am struggling to sell an autumn gold olney buffallo leather |(identical to a Jaguar XJS) close contact saddle in 17.5" M-MW fit. I'm only asking £300 and can't sell either.
 
If you can get to Bicton, or Broomies, Caldicot saddlers always have a van load of quality 2nd hand saddles to try. They will let you jump a class to see if it suits. We just picked up a nice GFS saddle for £300. They will take your saddle in part exchange if it is reasonable
