Well took both my boys over the canal at the back of my house let them off the lead,i saw another dog coming towards us with its owners so did recall both came to me sat down put leads on and waited politely. So woman decides to shout and say"are both your dogs on the lead love?"like a true chav!so i replied "yep they are indeed",so boys still sitting there patiently not even looking at said dog when the chav pipes up and says "i got a right thing against staffys"so my answer was "there harmless, not even interested in what you or your dog is doing",so she carried on walking by.People like that really p**s me off if you dont like the breed then just shut up and walk past!!!I would never dream of saying that to someone how rude!!Well she was a w.a.g wannabe with a chav accent anyway so supose i couldnt expect anymore.Sorry rant over, but just cause i own a pair of very well behaved and socialised staffys doesnt mean you can judge me!I hate people like that makes my blood boil.xx

What a prat. See, I can make the distinction (as can most people, I think) between chavs with staffies, which I hate; and normal people with well-behaved and looked after staffies, which I like because they are nice dogs if handled properly :)

Having had GSDs all my life I totally agree with you. I've had all the comments thrown at my dogs, used to particularly annoy me when I had my 2 kids with me when they were tiny, more often than not they would be draped around the dogs, yet people still pull their children away. :(

people get worse, my poor hubby gets it mostly as he walks the dogs usually he got told by one old lady our dogs should be PTS and by another as our v well behaved lab was off the lead in parkland that he shouldnt be off the lead and starts ranting and raving at him that he shouldnt be there :|

Had the oppersite yesterday. Took borrowed cocker for a walk yesterday along a footpath, never seen her with other dogs so no idea how she would react but you can call her off most things (chickens etc.) so wasn't that worried and I would NEVER let her off the lead yet bcause I would never see her again.

Anyway walking across a stuble field and in the distance are two gun dog labs practising (I guess before the start of the season) anyway as soon as we are too far from any gate or hedge they came hurling across the field towards us. Pippin hid behind my legs in a way that said what are those. Anyway so I told her to sit. These labs circled her sniffed her tried to play with her. she sat at heal like the queen of sheeba ignoring them:cool:. Shortly followed by a rather embarrassed looking man calling his dogs!
I was so smug! :D

By the spead he came he must have been very confident my dog was not at all vicious

Haha.....their is always gun dogs working the field we walk in and a good few times the gun dogs have broken away and come to have a play:D "10 dogs running around playing ball and chasing each other" is obviously more exciting than sitting and focusing and listening to your big burley dad tooting his whistle:D:D

Ignorant dog people do my head in. I work at a pub and my boss has a lovely 4 yo dog who was a rescue. He is a complete mix of everything, has hair and tail like a GSD, colour like a lab and body like an over-sized whippet/greyhound type.

He is perfect with children, looks after himself, never goes out of boundarys and never begs. However, in the last couple of weeks, people have been giving him funny looks and under their breath talking about how he is mal-nourished and should be fatter. Someone even tried to give me a lecture on how 'labs' should always have weight on them. I just thought, yeah I know, I have one! But he clearly isn't a lab, doesn't look anything like one apart from being black!

I swear the amount of energy that dog has alone proves he has enough to eat, hes just bl***y fussy!

Arggggh. Annoying!

Sounds like she was nervous of them, wasn't rude or aggressive but making sure she was comfortable about her safety to pass. She may have not been 'posh' but don't see anything wrong with the situation, and as your dogs were both well behaved and recalled well, can't see why you would?
If someone is scared of a breeed, they're scared of them at the end of that day.

Personally i didnt ask for her opininon on my dogs, she didnt see me pointing at her dog saying did you know your dog has the highest bite rate?so keep it away from me!I never asked for the ladies opinion and it made me mad as i was just having a general stroll with my dogs and enjoying some fresh air and excersise, but why comment on dogs which you can see are well behaved?thats what i dont understand if both of my two were chasing her dog trying to bite it maybe then i would understand her opinion, maybe she has had a bad experience but so have others, like most people they just stay a clear distance and walk past. But like i said i dont expect someone to comment on my dogs and there breed.i will back bullys up always!as the breed is what i have grown up with and i also have a two year old son growing up with my two and they are fantastic with him.It was just the ladies manner in general also she was quite aggressive in the way she spoke and i am sorry but i certaintly wont be spoken down to,lol,so i just became superior, lol.
Oh an dibbin my two both also have just a cheapy collar and leads and are blue and red, they look brilliant in them, sure they have got bully collars but thats more for showing.I can symphasise with anyone whose dogs are classed as a dangerous breed.xx

But she didn't-she asked were yours on leads (i.e not free to potentially approach her) and then explained she had a 'thing' about them - so understandable.
If you chose to take that as a comment about your dog-I'd be very surprised and think you're a bit sensitive tbh!
Unless you didn't mention her starting to tell you that staffies are evil, or she thinks they should all be pts etc. then I can't see what's wrong with it..
I personally don't expect people to have to interact with/like my dogs unless they need to..A stranger not liking them would not make me call them ignorant or anything like that, personal choice.

Thats fair enough but my point is dont say nothing if you dont like the breed thats your opinion not mine, and like most people say if you havent got anything nice to say then dont say it at all(whether it was ur dog is evil or not).I also stated it was her manner i didnt like and how she was aggressive about it.Just like shes allowed to open her mouth so i am i so it works both ways.x

I've got a German Shepherd - I feel your pain!! :o I've had women shove their kids out into the road rather than walk past Tara before now!!
They usually go straight to the Goldie to stroke - who, if anything is a little more unpredictable than the GSD!
Mental.

People just dive right onto Henry, it makes it very difficult to teach him not to jump up:rolleyes: They all think it's cute when he's clean and dry, but it would be a different story when he's wet and smelly!
