6.5 hrs return journey up to Yorkshire to collect Freya, I'm delighted with her, I took Toast, my lab dog with me, in the twin cage so she had company on the way back. Stopped at Clumber Park on the way up to give him a good walk. Pup was quiet all the way home and has been clean and quiet for the first two nights too. Health check at my vets today which was all ok (they'd been health checked by breeders vet when chipped and vacc'd too). She will work and compete in working tests. Grandfathers are Copperbirch Paddy and Belieys Aguzannis, both FTCH.

I love the sleeping picture. She is beautiful. Even if the colour is a bit new money...:p:p:p
(I said that to the shoot owner on one of the shoots I pick up on who has a fox red, he is about the oldest money going. He laughed. ;). But has been quoting me at people ever since :D)

They already look bonded to each other, having Toast must have helped loads for the long journey back. Stick a few more pictures on this thread? She's beautiful

Apparently it's the oldest and original shade of Lab, Pale labs became popular in the 1960's onwards, prior to that most yellow labs were toffee coloured.

The pup brings our total up to 4 and a half, we also have 2 spaniels and a very elderly staffie (she's the half because she spends a lot of time asleep!

I do love the working Labrador, they look majestic. Will you be working yours?

I think Toast is a gorgeous colour, I prefer the butterscotch to the really brown red.
I am sure black came first though... ?

Black is dominant over yellow so you'd think that black was first. Like you I'm not a fan of the dark ginger biscuit coloured ones. I like the reds that have highlights, both Toast and Freya have pale knickers and 'angel wings', the harness like marks on their shoulders.. Toasts mum is black.

Yes, my parents' first Lab, born in 1953 was 'fox-red'. He was darker and redder than the bitch we bought a couple of years ago who was described to us as 'fox-red', although I would describe her colour more accurately as butterscotch. After he was pts, they bought a pair of pale yellow (cream) bitches in the 1960s.
