And I hate myslef for it grrrrrrr! Pointless post, but had to say it, as no one at home is in the least bit interested. Grrr- rode beasty in arena, she was going as sweet as anything, really stepping through and using her back- and spooked because she was concentrating so hard- I fell off- why? because I hadn't checked my girth after mounting- something I ALWAYS did untill today- nothing bad happened, but I wouldnt have slipped off(I think the term fallen is a bt dramatic) - beasty lurched forwards then looked at me on the floor like a I was a total idiot sitting in the sand. Straightened up saddle and got back on growling to myslef- Someone else please tell me off so I NEVER EVER DO IT AGAIN!

I would only I'm quite often guilty of it myself and am always getting told to tighten my girth ! I am sure you will remember having slipped off tonight. Hope you didn't hurt.

I did that once.. you will never forget again lol

Beasties laugh more when you fall off because you have actually FORGOTTEN TO PUT THE GIRTH ON!! My friend did that about 5 years ago and no, we have never let her live it down

no injuries whatsoever- I think because I slid off sideways...... oh the embarassment- It will remind me to chack again- I think I was more concered about my cold hands that evening so forgot to do it- will never forget again!

Went to a trekking centre a few years back, the 2 women doing it were running about so much that they forgot to put reins on the horses

Dont worry, i've done it too.

Thankfully it was a good few years ago now & the pony i was riding was only 12.2hh so not very far to fall. lol

Video of me comeing off in the school because of loose girth, PLUS I had forgot to put my hat on

, rode past two people on the yard with tripod and video camera on board to get to the school and neither noticed either

Glad you're not broken or bruised- I bet you get quite obsessive over checking now and in the future though!

If it makes you feel better, I recently mountedand tried to set off from the stable block across the yard and wondered why my girl was being really contrary. Every time I asked her to go left, she was drifting right and vice versa.

Looked down and turns out when I'd put her bridle on, her reins were crossed over at the front of her neck, so although fine round the back of her neck, the poor thing was getting all sorts of nonsense signals from me!

haha I did that a couple of weeks ago, both me and flash were completely bewildered!

Saw a very over weight woman with a cigarette in one hand try to mount at a show a few years ago. It was pouring with rain and very muddy. She had forgotten to put the girth on and landed flat on her back in the mud haha! serves her right, i hate it when people smoke when riding!

I've done that before! Did it at an event, Id done an entire round of show jumping (and got clear), came out and somebody asked how I managed that with a girth like that - I could practically fit my entire hand clenched in the gap! Was horrified but I guess it means my saddle fits well!
