Woke up to more driving rain, wind and fog. I am sick to the back teeth of this bloody weather and mud! To put me in a worse mood my mare barged out of her stable, still in her stable rug and proceeded to canter around, across the muckheap, through the yard several times, up and down a bank and finally into the field, still in her stable rug. I was so furious I nearly threw the broom at her - I didn't because I probably would have missed and made myself even more angry! So she is still out there now, I expect she has rolled and ruined her rug but at the moment I couldn't care less and glad she heard the other two having their breakfast - I hope she's hungry!

Someone please remind me why I have horses!

Because you love them to bits. Is she looking for her breakfast yet? lol

I do wonder this myself, they always seem to annoy me when the weather is bad

I hope your mare is feeling very very sorry for herself in a muddy wet stable rug, serves her right.

I know the feeling - it would have been so good to throw the broom!!! (You know that deep, welling anger....argh!) Normally manage to stop myself before I thump the animal, but god, sometimes I wish I could kill them.

Hope she doesn't make too much of a mess of the rug, that would really irritate you.

God how I know that feeling

Went for a ride on the big mare yesterday - ok, she hadn't been ridden for a few days because of the weather - so she started snorting and grew to at least 18.2hh and the reason? There was a huge, horse-eating, fire-breathing, mare-murdering SEAGULL in the field

. I told her in no uncertain turns, she was being bl*%dy stupid, she was the most pampered, spoilt animal, lived the life of complete luxury and was frightened of a "bl*%dy seagull". All this at the top of my voice - god knows what the neighbours thought

Well - I have now had time to calm down and reflect and I have decided to give up horses and buy a quad bike instead - then I can still go hunting and ride around the countryside but I won't have to muck out or ride it in the rain, it won't leave me a muckheap the size of a mountain and I haven't got to groom it, clip it or clean its tack and I am sure its running costs will be much cheaper.

I am even thinking of starting a quad bike dressage club where we can show off our moves! If anybody would like to join the committee please PM me!!!

Yes...I have a horse with 'character' too!

He can make me so frustrated sometimes he makes my blood boil but then he gives me 'the look' and my heart melts again. !!

Trouble is the price diesel is going up to makes running a quad nearly as expensive as a horse! Have fun cleaning the stable rug!
