I did 57 transitions in my schooling yesterday!!!!

That's great :D I have no idea how many I normally do xD

I think I'd lose track of counting :o Or forget when I did a transition if I did them that often!
Hmmm... on Carl Hester's recommendation, if I schooled for 30mins I'd have to ride a transition every 20 seconds just to get to 90!? That might be wrong though, I can't do maths outside school :p

Anyone think it's possible? xD

I do a LOT of walk/canter/walk transitions, walk 3 strides, canter 3 strides, walk 3 strides for example, you can get the figure high quite quickly! Don't forget transitions within a pace too, they count!

My horse would die if I schooled him for that long :p He thinks it's the most boring thing ever, unfortunately, I rather like it.......

You wanna come and do mine too? Your horse and I could watch while eating grass/drinking pimms respectively.

Send them my way :D
I don't quite get it either, I hate hacking with a passion, yet would happily school anything and everything all day long (yet I have a habit of finding horses who hate flatwork!) :o :p

Sure he wouldn't turn down the pimms, not sure why you'd want to eat grass though?! ;)

xD Seriously, what's wrong with schooling? All that hard work, frustration, the blood, sweat and tears! It's FUN! :D
Or am I just some bizarre type of masochist? I don't even know if I spelled that right :o

I think they ought to invent something like one of those things that count how many steps you take (being out of school is really not doing my brain any good, clearly!) to count how many transitions you do. Not sure how it'd work though, so I'll leave that to someone else! :/

I wanted to try it tonight, but my mum seems to have forgotten to come and fetch me......?!

57? You sure about that?

If you halt to walk, walk to trot, trot to canter, canter to trot, trot to walk then walk to halt that's 6 transitions. Any permutation of transisitions in between will bring you back to any even number.

So you either did 56 or 58 transistions or you dismounted at a walk.

Well it was defo somewhere between those two, its hard to count, ride and look where your going you know!!!!

eatonbraynat - you could have said that you actually went halt-walk-working trot-collected trot-canter-working trot-walk-halt which surely would make an odd number? :p Or something along those lines? xD

I'm sure it IS possible to do odd numbers :D

Well that would only work if you define moving from collected to working trot as a transition, other than that there really is no way of it being an odd number. I have a math degree :p

surely moving, therefore changing, from one thing to another IS a transition? xD Hence the whole 'transitions within the pace' thing? No...?
Either way, it's possible :p

Sticking up for you? Sorry I was having a bit of a laugh, I didn't realise my jokes were being taken as victimising you.

I see now my reasoning was wrong, I graduated in 2000 and clearly my math skills aren't what they used to be. Sorry for any upset I caused, I really should be more careful, this is HHO afterall, god forbid anyone said anything incorrect.
