You can get a long-term sedative, ask your vet. Prince33Sp4rkle tranqs her horse all the time. She calls it 'snuff'. You could ask her what it is.

erm.....yep....its called Equine America Super Kalm and its a totally 100% competition legal calmer that IMO really works.

however its meant to be used as one off/ special occasion use, not as a long term every day thing.
 
What are you feeding him? Whenmine was on six weeks box rest with a bruised pedal bone he was fed only meadow hay and a salt/mineral block.

When it was time for him to go out for the first time he was sedated with Sedazine and turned int the big round pen where he boounced around for a couple of minutes.

Is the walk to relieve boredom or to exercise? If it is just to have a pick at grass then hand pick the grass and leave him in. It's just not worth the risk.
