I rode Archie today!
I know I shouldn't have but unless I got on I don't think I would ever have ridden him again.
After six months off with my broken collar bone, operation to plate it, next consultant appointment late October and no riding until possibly next year I have been having more and more negative thoughts about riding.
I love, love, love my boy and got up this morning, heart thumping and thought I have just got to do it.
Went up the yard and got him in and just tacked him up. Got on him and he was his usual laid back self. I rode him up the lane and back and then down the bridleway past his field into the forest. All in all, rode for about 30 minutes and he really looked after me. We poodled along and it was fab - I can't believe I haven't ridden him for over six months.
Popped him back in his field and haven't stopped smiling since.
I am not going to overdo it though but I should imagine a lot of you know what the dreaded thoughts of giving up or never riding again are and I really don't want too many of them.
