I plucked up the courage and took my new girl to hound exercise this morning with Beaufort. it was quite a fast morning, but she stood at the meet perfectly and was perfect all day. didn't do any of the jumps, and got left behind from the group at one point, because she was tired, but a lovely lovely lady pulled back and walked with me for a bit and showed me a short cut down a road and we met the hunt at the top of the road!

think I may have the bug now, just need to find somewhere to get some good long canters to get my girl a little fitter becuase she did get quite tired after a few full on gallops! we said goodnight and went home when the group stopped for bacon butties and drinks. A good day!

Seriously though - yay - well done. I'm so glad you enjoyed it and that you have the bug. I'm warning you though - it's all highly addictive!!
 
Ooo, I'm glad you had a good time, I'm thinking about taking my horse hunting soon but neither of us have done it before and we're a bit lacking in confidence as far as hunting goes but I'm even more tempted to give it a shot seeing as you obvioulsy had a good time
 
I'm sitting here still confuzzled (love that word!!) - and I guess I'm not the only one? Still watiing to hear why it was sad - will go and make a cup of tea I think.....

thanks, everyone was really kind, and they got us all together before we started and said if anyone had any questions, to go to any adult and ask, and if they didn't know the answer they would find someone who did, just relaxed it a bit and made everyone feel less aware if they were new to it!

you should give it a go, neither me nor my girl had been before, but we had a ball, and everyone was so friendly and helpful! im normally quite nervous, so I was really scared about it before hand, but im so glad I did!
 
Sounds good, if I do decide to go I know someone who will come with me and her horse is as nutty as mine but younger so we'll stick together if we go flying across the fields, hope we don't end up accidentally passing the hunt master though!
