I am so happy - with the fantastic support of my friend Emma walking alongside, we walked down the drive, and up the lane and back, further than I had in my mind, but Poppy was fantastic. Yes, she trod on my toes (ouch!) before I got on her, yes she danced a bit when I got on first time, but she had three cars go past her and she didn't flinch, each gateway we came to Emma made me halt and then walk on. We got back home and into the yard, dismounted, then got back on again, just to prove that she could stand whilst I got on, I then walked her up and down the drive a couple of times and even trotted her back the last time. She was sooo good.

Sadly the camera never lies - must go on a diet!!

I would be interested in your thoughts of Poppy's breeding - nothing on her passport described as a weight carrying cob. But today she is a star!

well done you,she looks like my old horse breeze she wos a welsh sec d x and would not stand still for me to get on, how old is poppy.hope to see more pics of your rides with her soon.

She's rising 9. I thought she could be a NFx and had my suspicions she may have welsh in her judging by her nose profile if that makes sense. She stood for me the first time I rode her 8 weeks ago but I suspect she danced about this time as there was alot going on and I was nervous and my friend had tight hold of her so she was a bit tense. Hence the reasoning behind dismounting and remounting which went well the second time around.

Thank you, I have to echo what another poster said in in her post that so much of my confidence has been boosted by everyone's support on this forum. Thank you! And no doubt pride will come before a fall! Watch this space!

To Toffee44 - yup there is a strong similarity between your pony and Poppy - interesting to see what the summer coat could be like - at the moment her coat is coming out in bucket loads!
