I posted on here a while ago about how to best start taking a dog out with a horse. Many thanks to all for the good advice and tips - much appreciated!

I walked doglet (out of her first season by a week) up to the monument - one of her favourite walks, as a treat for her first one since being mostly on a lead. I then had a problem of what to do with her when I was at the yard, as far too hot to leave her in the car.

I put her in the stable with Jazzy (which I've done several times before) and they were fine so suddenly decided that I'll take her with me. YO warned me not to go too far with Jazzy anyway as he's got a cough ATM so thought it would be a good first ride for Amber.

Tacked Jazzy up and got a friend to help me with Amber. She was a bit confused as to where I was as she could hear me. She then worked it out and jumped on Jazzy but he was brill - just glared at her then she got down.

Jazzy was a bit twitchy with Amber around his feet but I think he was just worried about standing on her, as several times she stopped dead in front of him and Jazzy stopped and avoided her!

She was really responsive, and I stopped a few times and got her to sit on my near side (in training for if cars came) and went through the woods and back. Didn't see any traffic either way which was nice.

I bathed them both when I got back (as Amber found some filthy water to swim in!) and tied them to the same ring and both really calm. They sniffed noses at one point which was lovely. No malice on either side!!!

Yippee!!

Pointless point but I'm quite pleased! Ice cold drink and ice cream to those who have bothered to read!!!

I remember your post ! WELL DONE :D:D:D

My lab adores going out with us, tho he's quite strong, so I have to use a halti on him. He's graduated to having his own fluorescent vest now to match me. I seem to be really lucky tho, as pony and lab adore each other - they chase round the field playing tag :D

Awww that's really nice! My mum's dog and her rabbit used to play tag - the first time we saw it we were quite concerned!

I'm not going to always take her with me, but it's nice to know that I can, without too many issues!

Happy Emma!

Ahhhh that could be problematic! Amber's pretty relaxed about things really but I wasn't sure how Jazz would respond bug he was really caref and considerate of her. I'm not sure how many times I will take them
out together but at least I know that I can do now!
