I didnt think that ropeburn could be so bad!!

Well Sparky has been off work now for 2 weeks exactly due to rope burn. It sounds really pathetic but he is still lame in walk (getting much better now though) and obviously i cant ride him.
It is really depressing as i should hve taken him to camp last week but i couldnt but i took Isabella's Mums horse who is maazing (Thankies hunni)
Anyway, the vet saw it the other day and gave me some cream but it is so deep and its just bare flash. It makes poeple at the yard gag (including me and some of the groooms!)
I have pics but cant find a way of getting it onto the comp but when i do i wills how you.
I am hibbicrubbing it and then putting on this cream and it is mmuch better tghan it was (he could barely walk when he first did it *no joke*)
anyway, how much longer would younsay it will be till i can ride him. I have been told roughly a week....

Ah, the dangers of lassooing ponies becomes evident?
Or was it an equine suicide attempt?
Either way, I hope the rope burn heals quickly...and your sick bags don't fill up!

My pony had rope burn a few years ago, (he managed to put his inside hind over his middle straps on his rug

) He came sound in a week or so though; I put aloe vera gel on it, worked wonders.....
 
My horse had a rope burn once underneath the pastern. It took quite a long time to heal up - it is a "burn" after all. It is one of those tricky things that needs looking after carefully, but should be OK after a couple of weeks.
 
Thnks guys, it has heeled so uch over the last 2 days and the skin is growing back really well....

Well he was ties up in the barn (waiting to get groomed) LONG ENOUGH SO HE COULD REACH HIS WATER, HE WENT TO SCRATCH HIS HEAD WITH HIS HIND LEG AND SOMEHOW GOT IT CAUGHT INthe rope. I wasnt there and do not know how long it was before someone got him loose.
Anyway, i should be able to ride him in walk tomorrow if all is well \xxx
